===========================
They Live (1988)—dir. John Carpenter; starring pro wrestler “Rowdy” Roddy Piper“They influence our decisions without us knowing it. They numb our senses without us feeling it. They control our lives without us realizing it. THEY LIVE.”
Nada, a down-on-his-luck construction worker, discovers a pair of special sunglasses that let him see the world as it really is: people being lulled into submission by media and government with subliminal messages like “Stay Asleep,” “No Imagination,” “Submit to Authority.” Even scarier is that the those in power are actually ugly aliens in charge of the massive campaign to keep humans subdued!

The Brother from Another Planet (1984)—dir. John Sayles; starring Joe Morton
The story of an alien, Brother, who crashlands in Harlem while traveling along an interstellar underground railroad. Possessing special powers, Brother amazes the friends he meets, as he keeps an eye out for two white alien slavemasters trying to capture him. Exposed to the suffering of poverty and drug addiction, Brother begins to seek justice for the community he finds himself in. As those hunting him get closer, Brother must call on all his brothers and sisters, both alien and human.

Buy Nothing Day —www.adbusters.org
Started in 1993, Buy Nothing Day is celebrated in over 55 countries! It’s a day to challenge mindless consumerism, corporate abuses, poverty, and the destruction of the environment. The rich western countries—only 20% of the world population—are consuming over 80% of the earth’s natural resources, causing a disproportionate level of environmental damage and unfair distribution of wealth. Stop shopping, start thinking!

The South Central Farm —www.southcentralfarmers.com
The South Central Community Garden in Los Angeles, a 360-plot, 14-acre urban oasis, is scheduled to be demolished and replaced by a warehouse.This is the largest urban community garden in the country, and 350 farmers from low-income families have worked this land for 13 years. Previously owned by the city and given to the farmers in response to the poverty and racism illuminated by the LA uprising, the city has now sold the land to a private strip-mall developer in a back-room deal who wants to demolish the garden and build a warehouse. The farmers are resisting, keeping 24-hour watch over their farm, and they are determined to preserve this community land for future generations to share and create community on.

PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY!!!
