The 1,000 NYU teaching & research assistants, members of the Graduate Student Organizing Committee/UAW Local 2110, are walking picket lines instead of teaching & grading papers because the university has refused to negotiate a second contract,
rescinded recognition of their union and cut their health benefits. N.Y.U.'s change in policy to bust the union is bolstered by a recent ruling of the Bush appointed National Labor Relations Board. Over 500 faculty members are pledged to move classes off
campus & undergraduates have formed an organization to support the strike. Yet, NYU President Sexton is ignoring demands from faculty, students & community supporters to negotiate. Recently Faculty have been enraged by Administration surveillance and infiltration of an on line program used to facilitate communication between professors and their students.
