In an interview on today's Democracy Now! author and educator Mark Crispin Miller said Senator John Kerry told him recently that he believes the 2004 presidential election was stolen. Indy readers may recall that Kerry quickly conceded the election in spite of the many irregularities and early reports of disenfranchisement. Miller, whose just released book "Fooled Again: How the Right Stole the 2004 Election & Why They'll Steal the Next One Too (Unless We Stop Them" broke this news while being interviewed about the book and engaging in a mild debate with journalist Mark Hertzgard.
Of course, Indy readers have been well versed in the many facets of election theft over the past two years. Links to the extensive investigations like the Conyers enquiry and the work of Free Press have exposed most, if not all of the far-right assaults on democracy. However, today's revelation may re-open the issue in the mainstream media, especially if Kerry owns up to his remarks to Miller. It will be more than interesting to see how Kerry handles this one. Will he cave like he did in 2004 or will he do the right thing and defend what little is left of democracy here in the U.S. Stay tuned!
