<<< - - -SAT SEPT 10 FROM NOON TO MIDNITE @ SPONTO'S 7 DUDLEY AVENUE VENICE - - ->>> KING SONNY ZORRO AKA THE 'KING OF VENICE' WAS AN ICON ON VENICE BOARDWALK FOR OVER 22 YEARS. HE PASSED AWAY IN 2003 BUT HIS MEMORY LIVES ON IN HIS ART AND MUSIC SOME OF WHICH WAS CAPTURED ON VIDEO AND CD TO BE PLAYED DURING THE DAY.

Legend has it that King Sonny first saw Jimi Hendrix play with the Isley Brothers on the Johnny Otis Show in 1964. One night while performing at a popular 60s cafe in San Francisco King Sonny wrote "Purple Haze" and dedicated it to Hendrix. Janis Joplin told him to write it down on a napkin and she gave it to Jimi. The rest is history..... for more about King Sonny go : here
