A few days ago, Jim Chase's organization Border Watch said it was going to be having a "California Minuteman managers only meeting at Jack's 4225 Oceanside Blvd, Oceanside, CA 1pm July 31, 2005."(1) In a seeming surprise turn of events, Border Watch has taken that notice down, and it now says: "California Border Watch is Happening now! Pan Down!"(2) "On Now thru August 7, 2005 / 760 644-0857 / Come One Come All!" Yet, a few weeks ago, the media was quoting Jim Chase as saying that he quit in California, apparently after a squabble with other border vigilante group leaders.(3)(4)

Considering these sudden changes, this writer suspects that Border Watch might be spreading disinformation to confuse people who would righteously protest these fascist and virulently white nationalist border vigilantes. Either that or Border Watch doesn't have its act together.

The San Diego Indepedent Media Center is currently featuring a flyer, posted by Gente Unida (sdgenteunida@yahoo.com), calling for action to resist the California Minutemen, a chapter of James Chase's Border Watch (formerly called United States Border Patrol Auxiliary).(5) There is going to be a strategy campout on July 15-19 in Campo, California. Campo is about an hour from San Diego and is on the border. A rally is scheduled on July 16th at noon. "Carpools leave at 10am, Saturday July 16th from Chicano Park OR meet us there." "Directions: I-8 to Buckman Springs Road, South to 94, Right to Campo, South to Forest Gate, Look for signs/people at the VFW or Border Patrol buildings." The newswire post attributed to Gente Unida has asked for people to distribute this flyer. Mimnotes.info is making the flyer available on its Web site. The flyer can be downloaded from mimnotes.info at: http://mimnotes.info/images/flyer.gif (340 KB). Mimnotes.info has also turned the flyer into a PDF for easier printing: http://mimnotes.info/images/flyer.pdf (119 KB).

Mimnotes.info has obtained an e-mail from James Chase in which Chase supports New Mexico Border Watch leader Clifford Alford, who has openly admitted to infiltrating the American Civil Liberties Union. New Mexico Border Watch is a chapter of James Chase's Border Watch. "I saw my man Cliff on O'reilly. He did fine. . . . I support my ACLU man Clifford Alford 100%." So, fascist James Chase supports self-admitted pig infiltrators with neo-McCarthyite conspiracy theories about how the Liberal ACLU is supposedly a communist front group.

A survey of Border Watch's Web site shows that James Chase thinks protesters of border vigilantes are "scum." "If you are against us you are scum or just stupid beyond comprehension. Change sides fool. Lets not let OBL criminals kill the goose with the golden egg so our grandchildren suffer their foolishness. United We Stand!" Despite Chase's pretense of supporting humyn rights, hysterical reactionary Chase invokes reactionary fears about imaginary terrorist invaders as a way of whipping up support for a vicious movement to intensify the repression of migrant workers. Chase, other Minutemen, and other rabid anti-migrant activists, do not care whether Third World workers are exploited. They pay lip service to fighting exploitation of migrants inside the united $tates only out of a chauvinist concern for maintaining exploitive Amerikan standards of living, which they perceive as being threatened.
