Join several LA grassroots organizations at a vigil in front of the Westwood federal building to show the US government that we will not stand by while thousands are being murdered each day in Darfur.

The crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan has reached alarming proportions-since 2003, up to 400,000 people have been killed by government-sanctioned militias and between two and two million people have been displaced and are in danger of starvation.

On Thursday, July 21, 2005, Darfur Freedom Summer Vigils will be held in different cities across the nation. As sunset rolls from East to West, we are hoping to create a candlelight wave, with caring people lighting candles in each city along the way.

These vigils will focus on how each one of us can take action and make a difference. Immediate action campaigns will be on site and informational/action kits will be available for people to take to their own community, with them becoming peaceful warriors for Darfur.

Join several community justice groups at the Federal Building as we remember past victims of genocide and commit to action to end the genocide in Darfur today!

Please bring your friends, family, and coworkers to this important event!

  • We need volunteers at the vigil. If you you have any questions or would like to volunteer, or cover this event please contact Gabriel Stauring ASAP.
