Caracas, Jun 24 (Prensa Latina) Nine fighters from the prominent Cuban school classified for finals in the ongoing Batalla de Carabobo Boxing Tournament taking place in the Venezuelan city of Valencia.
Olympic 48 kg champion Yan Bartelemy will fight against Puerto Rican Mcwilliams Arroyo, while two-time Olympic gold medallist Guillermo Rigondeaux (54 kg) will face Colombian Johnny Perez.
Yuriorkis Gamboa (57 kg), champion at Athens 2004 Olympic Games, will box against Venezuelan Lisandro Bolivar.
Other Cubans that qualified for the final round are Yordenis Ugas (60 kg), Erislandy Lara (69 kg), Yordani Despaigne (75 kg) and Luis Ortiz (81 kg).
The bout for the +91 kg title will take place between two Cubans: Athens 2004 heavy weight gold medallist Odlanier Solis and the super heavy weight bronze medallist Michel Lopez.
Fighters from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela attended the competition closing today.
