On June 21, 2005 the article posted at Indymedia was prepared from an email that was circulating the community.
The photos that were posted in error are of Danza Azteca Cuauhtemoc.
A separate email, that was also circulated with the photos previously posted at Indymedia, mistakenly identifying the photos as those of the Danzantes that met with the tragic accident on June 17, 2005 in Lincoln, Nebraska while on their way to a Summer Solstice Celebration.
Here is the correct information.
The four people who died in the accident were members of “Kalpulli Tlaltekuhtli” an Azteca Danzante Group from Los Angeles.
Yoanna Nunez, 22; Mary Ann De LaRosa, 30; her son, Manuel De LaRosa, 8; and Jessica Renteria, 13.
Edward Galvan, 13, was reported in serious condition at Bryan LGH-West in Lincoln. Eric Viellejas, 21, was admitted for observation. Marianna Lara, 23, was treated and released.
There were eight people in the van when it rolled.
The dance group was en route to a performance at the Stone Arch Bridge Arts Festival in Minneapolis.
The family has requested closed services.
The Kalpulli Tlaltekuhtli was not traveling to the Stone Arch Bridge Festival. That was a mistake written by the local newspapers in Nebraska. Tlaltekuhtli, was going to the Xochpan Ceremony held by Kalpulli Ketzal Coaltlicue in Minneapolis, Minnesota. If you have any questions regarding this correction do not hesitate to call or e-mail.
