IBU ON STRIKE!

The IBU members who work for Marine Spill Response Corp. walked off the job in an unfair labor practice strike at 6:30a.m. today, June 23. Please join them on their picket line:

190 South Pico Ave., across from the CUT terminal in the Port of Long Beach.

These brothers used to work under an IBU contract at Clean Coastal Waters. MSRC took over Clean Coastal Waters a year ago and hired all but one of the workers—but refused to recognize and bargain with the union. The National Labor Relations Board is issuing a complaint against MSRC, and the workers are fed up.

They say the company’s anti-union attitude will also hurt the environment. CCW had a local focus. MSRC works all over the country and overseas as well. It claims it doesn’t have to recognize the IBU because the workers are now part of a national bargaining unit—and can be sent anywhere at any time. If they get sent away, who watches out for the Southern California coast?

NO UNION-BUSTING IN THE PORTS OF LOS ANGELES/LONG BEACH! PROTECT OUR COAST!
