This is a phenomena known as "FOX ''News'' Syndrome." Someone blerts some outrageous lie with utter conviction, a lie that's easily exposed simply by bringing up Google. It's pandemic among rightards, rare among progressives.

A Judge ruled that FOX "News" was allowed to lie to its audience and that there is no legal requirement for companies claiming to be "news" to actually convey news, or to do so without lying -- often on orders from Republican kingpins.

The reasons why mainstream media is suffering are many however the growing inability of normal Americans to actually believe anything the right-wing media says is a major reason why mainstream media is having to cater more and more to the Republican IQ set among us.
