AB1172 is a new labor bill supported by CWA, a major communications union, is designed to stop the chargeback of already paid wages to employees paychecks. AB1172 has been passed by the State Assembly committe and is gaining major support from labor organizations and the California plaintiffs bar. This bill is also designed to reverse an errant ruling from the State Court of Appeals in Steinhebel v Los Angeles Times, in which a contract that violates California Labor Code 300 (h) was allowed to execute in violation of the law.
