Silverlake, CA, - The Studio Gallery and Zendarling announce they will jointly host a special gallery exhibition opening on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the Studio in Silverlake. There will be an opening night reception on Saturday the 23rd from 4pm-10pm. It will be free of charge and open to the public. The Studio is located at 2467 Kenilworth Ave, Silverlake, California 90039.
The event will feature several recognized artists including; Penelope Lysle, Julie Hunter Bagish, Joanie Stevens, Sangeeta Levy, Stacie Meyer & Catherine Townsley creating art under the name true. The show will feature a broad range of art including photography, illustration, fine art, sculpture & pottery.
Penelope Lysle began her art career at ten, painting landscapes of Cape Cod. Oil painting and acrylic to Japanese brush painting and woodblock led her to photography which is now her main artistic focus. Her photography is a visual representation of the many places she has visited. A combining of cityscapes, landscapes and portraits which vividly capture the essence of the many different locales. People, places and things in vibrant colors tell the story. Sangeeta Levy, is an Illustration Artist, acrylic painter and collage artist. Her art is diversified, colorful and her bold pieces suggest inner feminine energies. Sangeeta enjoys experimenting with different modalities but keeps that running theme of richness of spirit.

Julie Hunter Bagish, better known as Silverlake’s Potter will be showing both pottery and prints. All her pottery is one of a kind, made and fired in a gas kiln, by the artist. Her hand made glazes are often layered and detailed with glass bead accents and carvings. Julie’s work reflects the four seasons of her garden. Joanie Stevens will be showing her jeweled hardware, which are a fusion of texture, color and light that take on a three dimensional life of their own. Joanie uses a free-hand, multi-layering technique, to create brilliant compositions of fine glass combined with precious metals and other fine materials which are then kiln-fired.

Stacie Meyer, an oil painter and photographer uses oil paint and other materials to create images incorporating elements of figurative, abstract and atmosphere. true will be showing both charcoal and watercolor. Her art and designs reflect both the individuality and connectedness of our spirits. With the gentle curve of a line true draws on the essence of human experience to create her beautifully earthy and meaningful images.
The Studio Gallery will be open every Thursday from 4pm-8pm for “wine, cheese & art” as well as every Sunday from 1pm-5pm.
