UC Santa Barbara's chapter of Students for a Free Tibet will be joining SoCal's Tibetan community in outraged protest against China's illegal occupation of Tibet.

STUDENTS FOR A FREE TIBET ACTION ALERT!!!

What: Thursday March 10th Tibetan Uprising Day

Who: The SoCal Tibetan Community and YOU!!!

Where: LA Federal Building, on Wilshire and Federal

Why: Because quite frankly...we need to give a damn.

How: Protest, Call In, RISE UP!!!

On March 10th 1959 tens of thousands of Tibetans were
slaughtered by China's People's Liberation Army during
a massive uprising in the capital city of Lhasa.

The Tibetan resistance movement was fed up with the
outright repression and dehumanization that was being
inflicted upon them by the Chinese Government. Since
1949 1.2 million Tibetans have died under the Chinese
occupation, 6000 Tibetan Monasteries have been
destroyed and over 120,000 Tibetans have endured the
trek over the Himalayas in the dead of winter to
escape the occupation, including His Holiness the
Dalai Lama.

Even to this day a maelstrom oppression and genocide
continues to ravage the peaceful people of Tibet.

-Tibetan Womyn are forcibly steralized under the "One
Child" policy in China.
-Tibetan culture and religion are being severely
curtailed, except in the instances in which the
Chinese government can exploit them for profit.
-The Tibetan plateau's rich flora and fauna are being
forced to the brink of extinction for the benefit of
state run Chinese companies.

These are only a mere fraction of the atrocities being
committed in Tibet. If you care about human rights,
the environment, the eradication of an indigenous
people DO SOMETHING!!!

On March 10th 2005 UCSB's chapter of Students for a
Free Tibet will be protesting at the Los Angeles
Federal Building to vehemently decry China's illegal
occupation of Tibet.
