This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, China Radio International, The Voice Of Russia, Spanish National Radio, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From NETHERLANDS- NATO officials are meeting in France this week, but will not discuss the prescence of US nuclear weapons on European soil. Up to 500 of these bombs remain from the Cold War, and the US administration continues its threats to nations like Iran, who the US accuses of developing the means to make nuclear weapons.
From CHINA- During Sec of State Rice's European tour, she said the US would not accept Iran's "foot-dragging" on resolving the question of nuclear development. Iran's Foreign Minister denies all allegations of weapons development.
From RUSSIA- American scientists are busy developing a new generation of nuclear weapons, which many fear will trigger a return to nuclear testing and a new nuclear arms race. The CIA has agreed to declassify information on Nazi war criminals and their alleged cooperation with US secret services.
From SPAIN- Former Chilean dictator Pinochet has offered to pay $5 million in back taxes, hoping to unfreeze his assets. Cuba, where 50% of the adults smoke, has banned tobacco smoking in public places.
From CUBA- A Viewpoint on Condaleeza's Euro tour, where she is hoping to change her image from war hawk to a diplomat committed to peace and reconstructing relations with European allies. Then a Viewpoint on the ceasefire reached between Israel and Palestine, which the world hoped would have a significant effect on the region.
