Call to Action: Food Not Bombs at Arlington West
Orange County Veterans for Peace and friends are asking for a Food Not Bombs chapter to commitment to being at Arlington West in Huntington Beach every Sunday. Although Arlington West is about mourning those who die due to war they see the issue of poverty at home and how the war machine is tied into that especially at the beach where you can see the effects of U.S. Policy here and abroad. Thus they call for Food Not Bombs.
Arlington West sets up at 8am and start shutting down at 4PM. So perhaps coming between NOON & 1PM and ending between 2PM & 3PM. That'd be up to the Food Not Bomb Huntington Beach Chapter. Arlington West is located on 6th Street, just North of the Pier.
What is Arlington West ?
The visual image of hundreds of white crosses placed in the sand
representing the hundreds of fallen soldiers in Iraq has paused thousands to stop and reflect on the cost of war. Orange County Veterans For Peace is more committed, organized and able to carry on this memorial than ever before. We are calling on the anti-war movement in Orange County to again affirm your commitment to this project as we welcome your participation in a spirit of peaceful understanding and trust. Please come out onto the sands of Huntington Beach and join us as we wage peace there.

Food Not Bombs is one of the fastest growing revolutionary movements active in North America today and is gaining momentum all over the world. There are hundreds of autonomous chapters sharing vegetarian food with hungry people and protesting war and poverty throughout the Americas, Europe and Australia. The first group was formed in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1980 by anti-nuclear activists. Food Not Bombs is an all volunteer organization which has no formal leaders and strives to include everyone in its decision making process. Each group recovers food that would otherwise be thrown out and makes fresh hot vegetarian meals that are served in city parks to anyone without restriction. The groups also serve free vegetarian meals at protests and other events.
Food Not Bombs works in coalition with groups like Earth First!, The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee, Anarchist Black Cross, the IWW, Homes Not Jails, Anti Racist Action, In Defense of Animals, the Free Radio Movement and other organizations on the cutting edge of positive social change and resistance to the new global austerity program. We hope you will join us in taking direct action towards creating a world free from hunger.
