Below is a call for a fast to support passage of the DREAM Act.

The fast is being coordinated nationally by the Center for Community Change.
(http://www.communitychange.org/default.asp) The main fast group is planning
to be together for the entire period at a location yet to be determined.

Download a flyer and an endorsement form at:

report=SingleArticle&ArticleID=0046

I plan on joining this fast from Monday Sept. 20 through Saturday Sept.
24th.

I will be joining as pledge supporter. I plan to make a public witness at
the Pasadena Post Office on Colorado Blvd. (across from the Paseo Mall)
every day from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. I'll be handing out flyers from the
DREAM Team and (with their approval) material supporting the broader agenda
endorsed by the New American Opportunity Campaign (see
http://www.newamericanopportunitycampaign.org/action_week.htm)

My participation in this action is part of my commitment to solidarity with
Immigrants and all disenfranchised people which is the mission of the
Immigrant Solidarity Network affinity group
(http://immigrantsolidarity.org), a project of ActionLA.

peace,

Los Angeles DREAM Fast Vigil!
September 13th - September 25th
Endorse, volunteer, and support our effort!

The Los Angeles DREAM Team Coalition will hold a DREAM Fast Vigil to stress
the urgency and need for accountability around the strong bi-partisan
student legalization legislations known as the DREAM Act and the Student
Adjustment Act.

Students, educators, and their friends have held countless actions including
call-in days, legislative visits, rallies, marches, sign on letters,
petition drives, and national mobilization efforts, yet the DREAM Act has
not seen significant movement in Congress since it passed the Senate
Judiciary Committee by a 16-3 vote in October 2003.

Congress will return to Washington DC in early September to close the
session. In order to communicate our seriousness to our elected
representatives and to increase public attention, we have launched the
2-week DREAM Fast Vigil, the most dramatic, non-violent grassroots DREAM Act
effort to date!

This action is coordinated on the national level by the United We DREAM
Campaign and the New American Opportunity Campaign.
