Apple is not a "good guy" in the business. They are notorious for monopolistic business practices when they can get away with it. Recently, they bought the video software Shake, which is used by postproduction companies. Shake was slated to become primarily a Linux-based product. Apple took it, and moved it to their OS X, and increased the price for the Linux version to the point where it would cost more to run it on a comparable Linux box.

That incident is the epitome of the operation of capitalism. Corporations, when they can, like to control prices, control markets, and control even the customers.

Corporations are the antithesis of public democratic participation. They take from the commons, and return little.
