Lend a Hand to Flor y Canto

Lend a Hand is a silent art auction fundraiser

for Flor Y Canto Centro Comunitario to be held on

Sunday, August 1, 2004 from 3-6 pm. Art

contributions of any medium are needed. All work

must be ready to hang and be received no later

than Thursday, July 29, 2004. Please contact me

as soon as possible so that you can be emailed an

entry form to include with your piece, arrange

drop off or pick-up dates and times, have your

name added to the list of participating artists,

and be thanked profusely for your generosity. It

would be great if all the proceeds from the sale

of your piece are donated to Flor Y Canto but if

this is not possible you can determine the

percentage that you would like to contribute.

Flor Y Canto is a not-for-profit community center

and radical bookstore run entirely by volunteers.

We intend to create a social space that promotes

the self-development and self-sufficiency of our

diverse, multi-ethnic community of North East

L.A. We provide access to resources, services,

cultural and educational activities that enhance

our social lives. We want to encourage a dialogue

between residents that aims for the sharing of

ideas and skills that will propel the people of

L.A. towards a more cooperative, non-coercive,

and self-sufficient future.
