LAPD officer got violent only after spotlight was removed.

by Aouie Saturday, Jun. 26, 2004 at 1:48 AM

1> Yesterday's "excessive force" incident occurs after the helicopter stops shining the light on the scene indicating likely guilt.. 2> How is LAPD handling unpublicized "excessive force" incidents?

1>None of the news channels appear to be emphasising that yesterday's "excessive force" incident involving the LAPD occurs after the helicopter stops shining the light on the scene (according to my vague recollections). As far as I am concerned the police often use excessive force. It has become the norm and accepted by most of society to the point where they exhibit the rough tactics on shows like "Cops".

2> It would be nice to know how allegations of "excessive force" that are not caught on tape (at least not on one that has been publicized) are handled by the LAPD. Currently the empahsis seems to be placed on how the LAPD is handling yesterday's widely publicized case.

It was a passing thought, that I am unlikely to pursue. If anyone reading this feels so inclined to pursue, then please do.

Sincerely,

Aouie

make police obsolete

by compound eyes Saturday, Jun. 26, 2004 at 7:16 PM

when the community can regulate itself, the police will become obsolete. violent people in society can be dealt with by people acting together instead of depending on the police who only exist to protect the wealthy from the poor. self regulating community involves getting a group of people in the neighborhood to look out for each other..

learning self defense and also being able to de-escalate a situation would need action trainings for all members of the community who wish to be involved..

in the meantime, all people will benefit from becoming "copwatch" in their community, observing interactions between police and whomever they are questioning, detaining etc..

police are the most dangerous gang of organized criminals roaming the streets today, the community needs to protect itself against the police and other violent people..

make it with out cops

by john Saturday, Jun. 26, 2004 at 7:39 PM

Please, make the cops outdated. Stop calling them. When you wake up in the middle of the night and hear someone prying your window open, call your neighbor. When your child goes missing, call your neighbor. When you are robbed, dont call the cops. call your friends.

Always Cops

by Mark Geragos Sunday, Jun. 27, 2004 at 12:09 AM

Cops are fucking retards, but they are necessary.

They will always be necessary.

Oddly, it's the criminals who should be thankful for cops, otherwise there's be "gangbanger" corpses hanging from every lamp post in the city.

Fucking gang trash.
