COLLECTING INFORMATION ON POSTERS (BIG BROTHER)
Current discussion within the collective is pointing toward adding users and passwords to create greater accountability for each of the participants.- LA IMC
AND JUST WHAT INFO WILL YOU BE COLLECTING ? name , dob , SSN, address, phone#, email address and how long before we can expect the FBI at out door? are you related to Tom Ridge?
THIS WILL END UP LIKE SF IMC WHERE THEY WHERE TURNING INFORMATION ON US OVER TO THE POLICE!

This is to the individuals that run this site. If you are going to do it, be transparent with us. It will kill the IMC movement, but that is better than turning it into a FBI resource. Personally, I stand behind what I say and it would take little research to find out who I am (conservatives have attacked me several times with viruses, though none have been successful). However, there is news that needs to come out that the government will fight against.

If that data is collected, the cops, the FBI and various intelligence services will get it when they want it - through infiltrators, court orders, burglaries, or some other method.

Hi fellow paranoids,
No, there are no plans to collect that kind of information.
A lot of the user registration code has been written, and it's like most other websites, except that it's possible to get an account that consists of only a login and password.
Adding an email address to your account is optional, but if you do, it will allow you to be contacted by other users, without revealing your address.
The actual policy about who gets to post, whether posts will be moderated, etc. will be determined later. Registration is just a component in such a system.

IPs are being recorded when you post. These records are deleted every week or two when I do moderation, and can be deleted more often or turned off.
If you can read PHP, you can see how this works by looking at the sf-active code available at the link.

spooks can eat shit. The la-imc editors have enuff sense to steer things in their direction. maybe, "their" extends to nonvogue types? As it shld to create an atmosphere of backyard harangues to sort things out, and steering clear of washed bs.

What do YOU think of the 'notice to editor' idea for sexist, racist or porn splotchers that we get assulted with?

Nah, you do not record IP addys of anyone who posts here. You have the server logging turned off and your PHP code does not identify IP adresses with individual posts and that MD5 hash shit you used to attach to posts you didnt agree with was just my imagination!
Balls!
Indymedia is not "Big Brother" it is more like "Big Sister" EVERYTHING YOU POST ON ANY IMC IS LOGGED AGAINST YOUR IP. The "moderators" note it and hide/delete/alter your posts to fit their own agenda. and also PMS plays a big part in their actions.
John K is becoming another nessie (LA-IMC)
Independant my ass! IMCs are biased just the same as ANY "news" outlet.
To read or post here you just have to remember which way they are biased and work with it.......
