If any of you saw the Moving Image Awards last night for Richard Gere you'll know what I'm talking about.

Stripped Geres?

(A Haiku For You, Mr. Gere)

R. A. Hawkins

My wife made the mistake of watching an awards ceremony for one of her former favorite actors. That would be Richard Gere. She watched in mild amusement as he did his little bow and hand thing displaying reverence, I assume, to the gathered elite. The whole show was done in a rather light-hearted manner until the end. Richard Gere talked about how it is wrong to have a President who thinks the Lord is only on his side. He also said they all need to work together to fix that ‘problem’. Who does he think he is kidding? I have a strange feeling he has stripped a few of his mental Geres, so to speak.

I seem to remember Bush talking about Islam in rather kind terms and I seem to remember him talking in kind terms regarding all of the religions. This cannot be said for the radical left however. The radical left has been anti religion from the very start of their movement, which was around start of the 1900’s in Russia. (Even if they won’t admit to that.)

The real problem the leftists have with President Bush is that he openly displays that he is a Christian. The radical left doesn’t mind anybody openly displaying their religion, unless they are Christian. As a matter of fact they love it when they can get one of their new friends (read radical islamist not the real Islamists) to rant and rave and foam at the mouth. For some reason the radical leftists have even gone so far as to start openly hating Israel and the Jews. I always noticed a fair amount of Nazism in their ranks. I’m pleased they have been so kind as to show it more openly lately. For years they have been at war with religion when it is Christianity and have tried again and again to remove the word God from the Pledge of Allegiance. They have managed to achieve the desired results, I do believe.

One only has to look at what happened recently in the prison in Iraq known as Abu Ghraib. A generation has been raised up to believe in nothing. Everything is relative and nothing matters anymore. That is what children have been receiving in school for years. They have been taught that there are no consequences and if you don’t believe me explain why some of them were stupid enough to pose for pictures as they performed their foolish acts? Sadly enough these people are going to find out that the liberals were wrong and the liberal’s heads actually are right where many of us have been saying they are for years. They will suffer the consequences for their actions, in spite of what the left has taught them.

I’m pretty certain Gere is pushing for Kerry to make it to the White House so he can finish ruining this country. Never mind the fact that Kerry can’t remember which medals he threw over the fence and how he more than likely got himself with shrapnel from a mortar round he fired…. And then put in for a purple heart to reward his stupidity. But then that pretty much sums up the left in my opinion. Most of their wounds are self-inflicted but they aren’t smart enough to know it. Kerry reminds me a lot of Massachusetts other Senator. Kennedy wants Rumsfeld to step down from his position because of what happened at Abu Ghraib even though Kennedy, along with the others of his ilk, are the ones who have caused it. These are the same people who have inspired the terrorists to believe they can win this war the same way the Vietnam War was won, by undermining the confidence of the people of the United States. Kennedy, Kerry and friends are doing their best to accomplish this goal for them. I would tell them to go look in a mirror the next time they want to say something like that but I have a feeling they wouldn’t bother. It is probably a little frustrating to look into a mirror and not even see a reflection.

So I find it hard to tolerate comments like Mr. Gere’s.

No Mr. Gere, that strange feeling you have right now is not the usual wheel spinning most of you are so accustomed to feeling. I know spinning your wheels doesn’t get you very far but it feels the same to you. But making stupid comments like that proves you can’t even spin your wheels any more. You have stripped your Geres.

A haiku for you Mr. Gere

Darn that religion
