.

what was going on in Iraq in regards to the torture of prisoners is NOT Isolated.. it is in fact systemic.. the US knew about this problem back in Jan. and the White House did nothing.. they only reason that ANY of us know about this is because the pictures came out.. otherwise all of this would have been swept under the rug…senior Pentagon official confirmed to a reporter in January the possibility of graphic photographs. I think that the soldiers need to be held accountable.. but soldiers don't do things w/ out orders.. soldiers are watched and there's little they can get away w/ unless at least one person in charge knows about this.. this goes up the chain of command and everyone needs to answer some questions.. And we still don’t know all of it.. just yesterday we come to find out that it was not just about humiliation.. it was not just about beatings and torture. It’s also about MURDER! LA Times reports that Twenty-five Iraqi and Afghan war prisoners have died in U.S. custody in the last 17 months, including two Iraqi detainees who may have been murdered by Americans and now we find out what life was like at one of these famous prisons.. Former prison commanders have told of a violent atmosphere of rioting, with guards - heavily outnumbered by inmates - showing disdain for Iraqi prisoners. The International Committee of the Red Cross said it had been aware of the abuses and had urged US authorities to act.

Im really disgusted that the Red Cross knew about this for a while, yet they did not go public w/ it. Especially since in the past the Red Cross has been accused of helping the US and other "allies" spy on foreign governments.. but this just takes the cake.. they should have gone public w/ this... i don't think Doctors Without Borders would have done this.. this is the specific reason why we can't just blindly trust these Non-Profits, we need to check on these NGOs working abroad. Especially if they are working under these conditions, they need to have a charter to speak out PUBLICALLY against these types of abuses.. Shame on the Red Cross, their silence in this matter shows reckless behavior on their part. Their silence contributed to these tortures. They should have known that the military would stay quiet on it, so they should have gone public, it’s a duty of medical/psychological aid groups to speak out against tortures. It’s such a basic thing. Red Cross Says Repeatedly Warned U.S. on Iraq Jail..The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Thursday it had repeatedly urged the United States to take "corrective action" at a Baghdad jail at the center of a scandal over abuse of Iraqi prisoners. So now there are people calling for Rumsfeld to step down, of course he wont..but I guess he's going to have to go answer some questions.. lets see.. can we predict what he's going to say? Senators Demand Answers over Iraq Abuse Claims..If Mr Rumsfeld’s testimony tomorrow on US abuse of captives fails to satisfy the Senate Armed Services Committee he could face calls to resign. Democrat Senator Joseph Biden said: “If it goes all the way to Rumsfeld, then he should resign. Who is in charge?” Here are the new pictures published in the Washington Post.. Pfc. Lynndie England of the 372 Military Police Company,an Army Reserve Unit based in Cresaptown, Md., holds a leash tied around a naked man's neck at Abu Ghraib prison. The photo was cropped for publication. A naked man is cuffed to a bed, with women's underwear on his head. A naked man is handcuffed to a cell door at Abu Ghraib prison. A group of men lie naked and bound to one another on the walkway in front of the cells at Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad The Iraqi prisoners dashed from their beige canvas tents, gathering at the edge of a razor-wire barrier in a desperate but defiant throng. Drowning out a U.S. Army general, they shouted in anger about their treatment by American captors."Mr. Bush, is this the freedom you want for Iraq?" one man yelled in Arabic. An amputee removed his prosthetic leg and waved it in protest. "How can I be a security detainee?" he asked. "What can I do without a leg?" A second man raised a metal cane above his head; five others brandished wooden crutches. The chaotic scene unfolded in front of two busloads of journalists whom the U.S. military brought to the world's largest Army-run prison for a tour Wednesday morning, hours before President Bush went on two Arab television channels to discuss the physical and sexual abuses of detainees here last fall. The virulence of the inmates who swarmed toward the visiting journalists on the first part of the tour visibly surprised military officers, who hustled the journalists back on their way. "Come on, in the bus," ordered Col. David E. Quantock, who commands the 450 military police officers at the prison. "We've got other things to do."

and Im sick of hearing that conservatives (and those who speak for them) really care about the prisoners.. lets be honest here. They don't care, they really don't give a fuck that prisoners were abused.. in their eyes most of these prisoners deserved it.. they are pissed off because the military got CAUGHT.. that's all. Check this out.. From the May 4 Rush Limbaugh Show, titled "It's Not About Us; This Is War!": CALLER: It was like a college fraternity prank that stacked up naked men— LIMBAUGH: Exactly! ... Exactly my point! This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation and we're going to ruin people's lives over it and we're going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You of heard of need to blow some steam off? Listen to the MP3 audio clip. A real class act, that Limbaugh. Must be hitting the painkillers again ...

oh and by the way while all of this is going on NOBODY IS PAYING ATTENTION TO CUBA! THAT stupid fucker Bush just wont quit, he has not finished one war yet, not one mission as been "completed" and you are worried about Castro? there are two interesting things.. hmmmm U.S. disciplines 2 Guantanamo Bay guards..the U.S. military acknowledged Wednesday that two guards at the U.S. prison camp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, had been disciplined over allegations of prisoner abuse. and President George W Bush is expected to announce tougher measures against the US' neighbor and long-time foe, Cuba. The new policy would come days after a panel appointed to find ways to hasten the demise of the Cuban leadership reported its findings to the president.
