Example of Moral Choices

Many people want to act morally, and then feel that in the workplace they cannot. A letter I sent seems to work well. With alteration to the specific topics, supervisors with even a little sense of morality will usually respect this type of letter.

I am writing about the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
fundraiser. I was researching the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation last night and I discovered what the money
they raise is used to fund animal research labs (18
million dollars in 2002). As appreciative as I am for
this opportunity, I have personal moral issues with
use of animals in medical testing given the current
regulations on this activity. I did mention this to
Michele and explained that if there is any
organization that does not participate in this
activity, I would be honored with an opportunity to
raise funds for them, but this specific organization
bothers me. I therefore respectfully ask if it would
be okay for me to step down from this particular
project.

Sincerely,
