Editorial Policy: The Open Publishing Newswire is an essential part of the Indymedia project. It is a globally accessible space for anyone to quickly self-publish breaking news, articles, commentary, digital photos, and audio. Los Angeles Indymedia volunteers moderate the newswire. In the last year and a half, the Los Angeles IMC Open Publishing Newswire has been besieged with detractive postings, other items, and commentary that are far away from what the Newswire is meant to be: a vital source of progressive and radical breaking news, commentary, articles, and announcements. There are no easy or perfect solutions to moderating an Open Publishing Newswire, rich with a healthy democracy of views. We have agreed by consensus on the following guidelines to help us decide what postings are appropriate and what are not. We believe that these guidelines will help to make the moderating process clearer for IMC volunteers and anyone who self-publishes; we hope to create an unencumbered, useful and Open Publishing Newswire for readers worldwide. We strongly recommend that you read our editorial policy

Please read the LA-IMC editorial policy at http://la.indymedia.org/process/openpub.php

Important point however

"We especially encourage individuals to publish:" Investigative reports exposing injustice

OK an injustice!

http://the-onion.net/journal/archives/003176.php

extract:- "I've taken steps to prevent this, and hopefully it will all go away now. This person seems to think that I've been harassing him! If you know me, can you imagine that? I know I certainly can't. "

(blog of the person falsly identified in the article you hid)

http://the-onion.net/journal/archives/003180.php

Extract:- "And yet someone has decided that I am.

That I'm harassing him.

So now he's harassing me."

In case you readers had not realised this, that person whose blog was linked to was just ONE of the people targeted and harrased by a certain individual.

I exposed an INJUSTICE and it is hidden?

Maybe there's some merit to the accusations, but they sound paranoid to me.

This is a volunteer operation, and it's bad enough that we're so fixated on the election to the exclusion of other important issues, but to have to contend with interpersonal conflicts between individual antagonists who see fit to carry out their hostilities on news websites is just too much.

There are bigger fish to fry, computer boy. Go play on another board, okay?

Regarding this "Victim of Cyberstalking"

by In the know Monday, Mar. 29, 2004 at 2:10 PM

An analysis of IP addresses used by one of the members of KOBE, an Australian, was matched with the favorite set of IP addresses used by this "victim." A photo on the website of this "victim" was matched with a photo used by KOBE. That informationw as posted on the website of KOBE's target.

However, that information was not posted by the victim of KOBE until three emails over a period of one week were sent to the alleged "victim" in Australia, asking her to deny the connection.

The alleged "victim" in Australia never responded until after the information was published.

No other contact or mention of the alleged victim ever took place. When the alleged "victim" denied that the was connected to KOBE, the information connecting her to KOBE was removed. Thus, there was no case of harassing her.

Nevertheless, more than a year later, we see these posts mimicing the job the KOBE: targeting the real victim - DeVoy.

Also, none of DeVoy's allegations have been disproved.
