an article calling all leftists in the SoCal area
Hello all, I thought it would be great to have a group of all leftists in the SoCal area. A group for sharing info, events, news, tactics, ideas ect. We could easily get a group e-mail on something like Yahoo. Hopefully in a few months I will have a political site up and I can make a section for the group. We can also of course meat at protests and such events. Anyone interested please reply or e-mail me at crazedmonkey373@yahoo.com.
ps. Everyone remember: March 20th, anniversery of O.I.L.(Operation Iraqi Liberation), huge march and protest starting at 12:00pm. Hollywood and Vine in downtown Hollywood. The protest is a worldwide event and will be happening in other big cities around the country. Also many smaller areas are organizing their own, I however don't know the info for anywhere but LA. Right now http://www.answerla.org/ seems to be down but later on check there for more info.

Here's a thematic group for Smiths fans.
There are a lot of existing groups out there. actionla.org, laamn.org, change-links.org. But it's good to create more points of entry, more groupings, and such.
Check out the IMC calendar for events.

A good idea in theory, but I'm afraid it might turn into a brawl. Trotskyists vs. Stalinists. Anarchists vs. Maoists.
Left social democrats vs. right (Democratic Party) social democrats. The Sparticist League vs. the International Socialist Organization. The Communist Party vs. the Progressive Labor Party. Lifestyle anarchists vs. anarcho-syndicalists. Palestinian Marxists vs. the Rabbi Lerner/Tikun crowd. Anti-pornography feminists vs. defenders of Larry Flynt's right to publish. Religious leftists vs. militant atheists.
The possibilities for confrontations are endless.
Maybe it is best just to meet on the internet.

Isn't there anything in the world that you aren't a total naysayer on. Can you be more of a depression monger?

I applaude CM for wanting to come together. We will all need to fight together to overcome, and we can do that by simply providing a united front. We don't all have to join the same organization or even like each other. But we can agree that we all need to work together to get where we all want to get.
Never let the frustration of a difference in opinion deture you from the real target.
So good luck with this, I'm not in the area so I won't be attending. But if it ends up not working the way you planned, don't stress... just keep unity at the fore and good things will come of it. There is strength in unity.
I may not agree with your political view, but I can agree that we'll need to work together to win.
Keep it up. :)

protesting is a right, and sometimes an obligation that few take part in, and should, tho in this particular one i'll take a chit.

Where were you last year when we had hundreds of thousands protesting the bloody war? I was involved in the illfated Breakaway at the big Feb Demo last year in Hollywood. After the invasion the demos died out. I got a job and have been too into my personal life. But I just quit my job and may have some time.
I am officialy an Anarchist but I am more of a crosspollinator than a dogmatist. I work with the Trots and the Maoists and with whomever if it is for a broad cause and stick with my friends when its more focused.
As for a leftist site, well the more the merrier, but unless you have only been around for a short time, it will be tough for all the diferent tendencies to get along. You have to have clear goals and direction that is broad enough to attract all kinds of people and to be honest enough not to try to recruit just for your particular cause if the thing is to work. Depending on what you want to do with this. I would be interested in a group that tried to deal with issues of theory and how to get from the present maliase to a more active resistance and eventually an effective offensive.
LA is a less dogmatic town than say San Francisco or New York where I have worked before. So what more specificly do you want to do with this group?
And what specificly are your affiliations? Just for the record.
