This is probably the most active peace activist group in LA. They have a wonderful email alert with a lot of information, potlucks, fundraisers, and documentary video shows.

This is another very active group. They have potlucks every months, a monthly newsletter about current issues which they distribute to the community, and a website: http://www.marvista4peace.8k.com Lately they have been involved in supporting the grocery striking workers. On Saturday, March 20th at 6 PM, MVNP&J will invite anyone to join them for their first anniversary of existence. We will renew our vows against the war.

This is a great photo essay of the some of vigils in LA that are still active and out there every week. By the latest count there are still over 40 active vigils throughout the Southern California area.
Thanks for posting this.

These were taken in Alhambra in January, not too long before West Covina had their 1-year anniversary. Alhambra, Whittier, and West Covina have been networking and supporting each other, thanks in large part to a contingent of hard core vigilers.
Sundays: Whittier, Wednesdays: West Covina, Fridays: Alhambra.
Come on down to support. Whittier needs major help. West Covina is solid, and good for young people. Fridays in Alhambra are solid, and get a little older crowd. We often get drinks or food afterward, and it's a good time. Also, sometimes, on Fridays, we hit the Fandango at the Eastside Cafe, who used to organize the El Sereno vigils.
Also on Friday nights, they have films over at Flor Y Canto that the Eagle Rock/HP vigilers put on.
Where are my Azns at? We need more yellow at these vigils. Off your asses, brothers and sisters. This is the SGV!

The east side, westside, SGV, SFV and all the Southern California vigils should all unite someday downtown for one massive vigil/protest.
We have the numbers if we all come together.

These folks are misguided but well intended. They should take down their signs and pack it in.
Admit that they were wrong and fighting for the wrong cause.

We're all going to the big one on March 20th. Also, there's been some talk about a pre-election meeting of grassroots organizers, protestors, whomever. The idea is to have a convergence center to do something a month before the elections -- a hub (or hubs) of politicial activity and organizing around the elections, but not necessarily *about* the election. Repoliticize the spectacle. Contact Marc about this sparckle1@c-level.cc. (PS - The only people who are embarrased and admitting they were doing the wrong thing were all the pro-war people saying "we gotta do this." Turns out we didn't have to do it.)

What are you talking about?
We haven't done anything so right for years.
Hopefully we'll continue.

So you don't feel any affinity for any actions our military takes on our behalf huh?
"We" as a country are fighting a war. The military didn't decide to go and fight purely on theirn own and for their own interests.
Although, I'm sure you probably feel unconnected with virtually everything "we" do as a country.
Perhaps you should try and find a new home.

I know who you mean by that. And it aint the majority of this country's people. It means the scum you work for, fresca. Not me, not my country. Only the filth and criinal element at the top who determine the policy of piracy and rape. I already served in the armed fouces of this nation, have you? Please tell us because you are one sick puppy and I am wondering how you got that way.

"It means the scum you work for, fresca. "
And who do you fanatasize that this would be?
On our behalf it is certainly the citizens of this country who are the target, as is the entire civilized world, of the savages of fundamentalist Isalm.
C'mon. This can't be news to you can it?
Are you still one of the last remaining deluded fools who denies that we are at war with Islamists?
Please tell me you've at least progressed beyond this.
And as far as serving in the armed forces, I can absolutely say that I've served at least to the extent that I believe you have.

I have served..just as you have claimed.
But your typical anti-American logic is in full light.
That someone needs to be IN the military or have been IN the military to support or be grateful for or agree with the actions of our military as they fight for US is nonsense.
The VAST, VAST, VAST majority of citizens throughout our history haven't come close to serving; are you saying that they have been wrong in supporting our military all this time.
You are a typical leftist ass. You want America to lose this and all wars. You want our way of life to be annihilated. Your shortsighted hatred is blinding.
Whatever. Your tribe is irrelevant beyond poking holes through and fun at.
And that you've served this country in ANY capacity is bullshit.
Obviously.
You hate this country.
Don't say you don't because the very fact that you are so opposed to fighting those who would destroy us is utterly telling.

But you know how to spray urine. Typical qualifacations for a racist right wing toranimal. Oh and there is the 'anti american' yammer which is your last wall of defence as you speak only for your very sick self. I pity you. I believe that I've seen enough puss coming out of you for awhile so enjoy the rest of the day doing what you do best. Being the poster child of mental illness.

Priceless!
racist right wing toranimal.
I guess that's some sort of anti-jewish slang as you call me a racist.
Wouldn't have thought any less.
Keep it coming dummy. The hate from you and yours would be dreadful if it wasn't so irrelevant.
Let me guess...you're one of the bright thinkers who don't believe Islamists had anything to do with 9-11 right?
