CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE IS CIVIL DEFENSE!

12 Noon on Thursday, Feb. 19

Ackerman Union

University of California at Los Angeles

Free of charge and open to the public.

Talk and Civil Disobedience/Direct Action training with James Tracy Editor of “The Civil Disobedience Handbook: A Brief History and Practical Guide for the Politically Disenchanted.”

With the upcoming Republican and Democratic National conventions, many thousands of people, many of them students, will converge on New York and Boston in protest of war abroad and economic injustice at home. Some will choose to use direct action tactics for the first time-a time honored tradition in American politics.

Join James Tracy, Editor of The Civil Disobedience Handbook: A Brief History and Practical Guide For The Politically Disenchanted. The presentation will consist of a short “State of the Movement” speech and hands on, participatory civil disobedience Basic Training workshop.

What people are saying about The Civil Disobedience Handbook-

“Tracy combines historical documents with his own essays, drawing from his considerable political-organizing experience in San Francisco -- with the Coalition on Homelessness and Mission Agenda -- to deliver sound advice to those who would make ruckus, not war.” –SF WEEKLY

“A stellar collection for that younger sibling about to embark on the long (but glorious) road of dissent. “-AK PRESS
