Anti-Imperialist/Anti-Capitalist Conference June 30-July 3, 2004 in Lawrence, KS, followed by a day of action on July 4, in Leavenworth, KS.

On June 30th, 2004, a four day conference, known as We Are Resisting!, will begin at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Its goal will be to help build a broad-based movement against imperialism.

Being organized by some of the same people that put together the 2002 North American Anarchist Gathering, and helped found the Great Plains Anarchist Network, We Are Resisting! is intended to bring together people of many backgrounds who believe that it is time for true social change. The conference will feature a wide variety of speakers and workshops, as well as time to network or just have fun.

Following the last day of the conference will be a day of action in Leavenworth, KS on July 4. Leavenworth is the home of the one of the oldest Federal Penitentiaries in the U. S., as well as several other prisons, Ft. Leavenworth, and the Command and General Staff College (CGSC), a branch of the Combined Arms Center. The CGSC trains thousands of commanding officers every year and also hosts an international program that trains officers from across the globe in the "art of war and armed diplomacy."

The organizers are still seeking more individuals and groups interested in speaking or hosting workshops on prisons, labor, race, the military, gender, indigineous rights, environment, sexuality and any other topics that can be related to imperialism and oppression.
