by ssc Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at 5:11 PM

The Nightwatchman's website announces a a short set at a rally for striking grocery workers on Saturday, January 31 at 1:30pm in front of the Von's grocery store in Los Angeles at 500 E. Manchester at the corner of N. Hillcrest Blvd. in Inglewood.

I read the following one-sentence announcement on the Nightwatchman's website: http://www.nightwatchmanmusic.com Please check there for updates, I don't know of a better place to send you. After reading it there I haven't found any word of it elsewhere on the web or in the mailing lists we subscribe to, iincluding the UFCW's list. If someone knows of another website or info source which has more info on this rally, please post that info as a reply to this message, or if you're a webmaster of L.A. Indymedia, feel free to edit or add to this post.

(Probably everyone reading this post is an activist with some experience with rallies and protests, but for those who aren't so experienced, I added the following paragraph to some posts on other activist websites.)

We encourage everyone going to the rally to use public transportation or carpool in an energy-efficient vehicle. If you drive, park legally. As you approach the rally, be sure to cross streets with the light (if there is a light) after checking in all directions for traffic, and use designated pedestrian crosswalks whenever possible. At the rally, listen to more than just The Nightwatchman, and have fun. Remember though this is a rally for striking workers, you're there to learn from what they have to say, and to show your support for their cause. It's worth going to for the cause and not just for the music, of course, but to help spread the word, be sure to tell your friends that the event is free!
