The very definition of "terrorist" is of someone who uses indiscriminate force and violence against a population in order to make them bend to a political desire. You accept as being a "terrorist" someone who straps on a belt of explosives and detonates themselves amongst a crowd of civilians. Yes that is terrorism, no matter what the cause. But a terrorist can also be someone who pilots a multi-million dollar jet that drops tens of thousands of dollars worth of sophisticated explosives on a civilian population... all with the sanction of those who gave the orders... and all for a "good cause."

Look at the child in the photograph... that child, like thousands of others in Iraq, was TOTALLY INNOCENT. Yet our bombs did this, our TERRORIST bombs! When Saddam invaded Iran in 1980, Washington blocked any UN Security Council action to condemn the invasion. Furthermore, Washington REMOVED Iraq from it's list of nations supporting terrorism. Washington began to funnel huge amounts of arms into Iraq!

If you recall at the time it was Iran that was designated by the White House as the "enemy of the week"... and so Washington did everything it could to SUPPORT "the beast of baghdad." People like you supported the idea of giving Saddam chemical weapons, missiles, artillery, and satellite intelligence, the logic being that Saddam would use these things to defeat Iran. Washington even extended farm credits to Saddam. The U.S. sent war ships into the Gulf to PROTECT Iraqi oil cruisers from Iranian attack, and aggressively targeted and destroyed Iranian forces with helicopter gunships. You may remember that in it's zeal to support Saddam and battle Iran.... the USS Vincennes shot down a Iranian civilian airliner on July 3, 1988, killing 290 innocent passengers. It was then that George Bush Sr. made his infamous remark: "I will never apologize for the United States; I don't care what the facts are."

I also protested against Saddam in the early 1980's for his treatment of the Kurds. Like the Kurdish minority in the countries of Syria, Iran, and Turkey... Iraqi Kurds suffered persecution, but with Iraq the U.S. was giving Saddam DIRECT MILITARY AID. It was American guns and bullets that mowed down Iraqi Kurds... and eventually it was American chemical weaponry used upon the Kurds when Saddam "gassed his own people."

I was horrified by the insane policy of arming such a dangerous man as Saddam Hussein. I always recognized him as a brutal dictator that should be isolated, shunned, and opposed. THAT'S why I protested his being made a friend of the White House! So don't attempt to malign me with your silly accusations of not being able to understand the concept of Saddam being evil.
