Over seven thousand striking and locked-out grocery workers are expected to join AFL-CIO President John Sweeney, UFCW President Doug Dority and over 400 UFCW Local Presidents from across the U.S and Canada in a historic march from Century City to Beverly Hills, next Tues. Dec.16.

With the strike entering its 10th week, public support is still solidly behind striking UFCW workers. UFCW officials will meet in Los Angeles next week to map out an aggressive campaign to end the strike at Vons, Pavilions, Ralphs and Albertsons.

Business reports indicate that the strike has had a significant impact on store sales and show that supermarket sales at affected store are down by as much as 50%. In addition, Wall Street recently downgraded the price of Safeway, Inc. stock.

The County Fed is calling upon elected officials, clergy and its allies to join the largest UFCW demonstration since the strike began Oct 11. Plan to bring your union banners and wear your union t-shirts, jackets and hats.

Now more than ever, Labor and its allies must stand with one another in the fight for health care and dignity in the

workplace.

On the Move, brought to you by the Los Angeles County Federation
