U.S. military kills nine terrorists in Afghanistan

by Adolph Bush Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 1:54 AM

"At the time we initiated the attack, we did not know there were children nearby," he said. "Until we get the investigation results, we can't say what exactly happened."

Middle East - AP

Kids Dead After U.S. Attack in Afghanistan
4 minutes ago

KABUL, Afghanistan - Nine children were found dead after an American air raid in southern Afghanistan (news - web sites) on Saturday, the U.S. military said.

An American A-10 aircraft struck a site south of Ghazni where a "known terrorist" was believed to be hiding at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Army Maj. Christopher E. West told The Associated Press.

"Following the attack, ground coalition forces searching the area found the bodies of both the intended target and those of nine children nearby," he said.

The U.S. military was sending a team of investigators to the site to determine if U.S. forces were at fault, West said.

Coalition forces "will make every effort to assist the families of these innocent casualties and determine the cause of the civilian deaths," he said from the U.S. headquarters in Bagram, Afghanistan.

"We regret the loss of any innocent life and we follow stringent rules of engagement to specifically avoid this type of incident while continuing to target terrorists who threaten the future of Afghanistan," West said.

U.S. forces were targeting a suspected militant believed responsible for the killing of two foreign contractors who were working on a road in Afghanistan, he said.

West said U.S. troops collected "extensive intelligence over an extended period of time" and located the suspect at an "isolated, rural site."

He said there were other houses nearby, but that the aircraft did not strike them.

"At the time we initiated the attack, we did not know there were children nearby," he said. "Until we get the investigation results, we can't say what exactly happened."

This would not happen...

by nonanarchist2131 Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 2:41 AM

...if the cowardly terrorists didn't hide behind children.

You see, they use our own humanity against us. Had the attackers known the children were there, they would have broken off. The terrorist cowards know this.

Funny, though...they have no compunction themselves about murdering innocent noncombatants.

This also says something about those who oppose the actions of the United States against such cowardly pieces of crap.

How about it, Adolph Bush? Did you shed any tears on 9/11/01?

Somehow, I doubt it. Unless you saw in it the doom of your heroes, the cowards responsible.

by Nidron Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 2:48 AM

It means they will get compenasation in hard currency for them and it's one less mouth to feed. For these mud dwellers it's a win win situation.

They think differently to us.

Get Real

by Fred Flintstone Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 2:51 AM

This would not have happened if Bush had not launched an illegal war of Aggression to steal Iraqi Oil.

The Guerilla Warfare scenario we are seeing now is exactly what opponents of this sick war were warning about.

It is exactly what the Pentagon warned about but was overidden and silenced by Chickenhawk Demagogues itching to have somebody else's kid kill somebody else's kid.

"illegal war"

by Max Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 3:00 AM

Fred Flintstone, you chose the right name for yourself. You are indeed a cartoon character. And you are most certainly living in the stone age.

Hussein was a brutal killer and a threat to civilized people everywhere. George Bush forcibly removed this threat.

George Bush is a great leader of men. George Bush is loved by the American people and by the men and women of our armed forces.

George Bush will be re-elected next year. And you, Fred Flintstone, will only be able to continue your incessant whining.

"This would not have happened if Bush had not launched an illegal war of Aggression to steal Iraqi Oil."

No, you putz.

This would not have happened of Saddam had fulfilled the conditions on the '91 cease-fire and binding UN resolutions.

Now, why do you insist on placing the blame on the guy fixing the situation, and not the guy responsible for it?

Like I said: You're a putz.

Apologist to murder

by Dr. Frankenstien Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 5:26 AM

Only a real putz would be an apologist to murder. Nine children are dead from one of our bombs, and its the terrorist's fault. Right. *cough*

Anyone who can condone this wanton murder of children is sick in the head.

Assuming none of the victims were related, and that none of their parents are dead, there are now 18 more people who might be angry enough to blow themselves up to avenge the death of their children.

Winning hearts and minds? Hardly. War creates terror. Think about it.

"winning"

by Max Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 5:38 AM

The leftists said we couldn't win the cold war against communism either, but you saw how that ended up.

Now the only place you can come to converse with commies is indymedia. Other than that, they're really pretty few and far between...

max on crack, again..

by neocons really suck, it seems Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 7:28 AM

Evidence Max is on crack:

First of all:
The U.S. didn't defeat communism and neither did reagan, who now has a
habit of shitting on himself and has a seat in hell waiting for his senial ass.

The U.S.S.R defeated itself by trying stupidly to outspend a capitalist giant
like the U.S. But yet the U.S. still has free trade with China (aren't they communist
too, Max on crack?). Don't they have favored nation trading status even after
squashing pro-democracy movements and having a bad habit of killing
newborn females to control their population. Max, when you decide to get off
the crack, look on the labels on your shoes and shirt and you'll see that they
were made in a communist country called China.

Oh, and didn't we defeat ourselves in Vietnam, which is now a communist
country which also does trade with the west.

So what communist death are you smoking, I mean, talking about.

I suppose its hard to stay off the rock when you're an agent of the CIA doing
surveillance on the IMC.

That's right.

Those 9 Afghani kids wouldn't have been killed if cowardly terrorists like George Bush didn't spend time hiding behind children to do their evil deeds ...

Wow, the nuts are really out today!

by nonanarchist1047 Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 4:09 PM

Always wanting to hold the wrong person accountable.

Tell me, when you get a speeding ticket, you blame the cop, right?

When you get fat from eating too much Mickey D's, you blame the fast food restaraunts, right?

When your girlfriend leaves you 'cause you're an idiot, you blame her, right?

Guess what: in all those situations, YOU'RE at fault.

Just as Saddam is at fault. HE is responsible for all the people dead due to the sanctions.

HE is responsible for the wars in his country and the deaths they caused.

HE is responsible...no one else. Had he done what he agreed to do and what he was required to do, none of it would have happened.

You call me an apologist for murder...yet you cannot see that you're apologizing for Saddam's murderous reign of terror by refusing to hold him responsible.

Tell me...why do you want to see him keep killing his own people? How many dead Iraqis would satisfy you?

Oh, that's right...you don't give a DAMN about Iraqis. As long as Gee Dub is villified and held responsible for every evil in history, you don't care about anything else.

You self-styled "peace activists" would have been tickled pink to have prevented the war...no matter how many more Iraqis would have been shredded, raped, tortured, and killed.

Good thing for them there's people in power who have the courage to do the right thing.

Your opposition to the war really is tacit support of the Saddam regime. You have to see this.

How the hell can you live with yourselves?

"U.S. didn't defeat communism"

by Max Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 at 8:26 PM

You ever played monopoly? I suppose the guy that finishes first in that game doesn't really win, he just keeps from losing.

Call it what you want, but the USSR got their asses whomped, and we can thank the Republicans and the 6th greatest President of all time, Ronald Reagan.

As far as China goes, that country is run more like a corporation than a Communist collective. And they never threatened to bury us. Plus they have good buffets, and they know how to get our laundry clean and brite.
