The editor of International Socialist Review ( ISR ) will speak tomorrow at the UTLA building on resistance in the Middle and perspectives on the US occupation of Iraq.
WHAT: The editor of the journal International
Socialist Review (www.isreview.org) will be speaking
on the topic: Resiting Empire -- Perspectives on the
Occupation of Iraq
WHEN: Saturday, December 6, 3pm
WHERE: United Teachers of Los Angeles (UTLA) Hall,
Auditorium, 3303 Wilshire Blvd., two blocks west of
Vermont Ave. Free parking is available behind the UTLA
building on Berendo Street.
Sponsored by: The LA branch of the International
Socialist Organization
Endorsed By: UTLA Human Rights Committee,
American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, LA/OC
WHY: The US occupation of Iraq gets bloodier every
week. Guerilla resistance has inflicted dozens of
casualties in the last month. The US military has
renewed its “shock and awe” campaign, using 2,000
pound bombs to intimidate the Iraqi people. All of
this has produced a political crisis for the Bush
Administration’s plans in the Middle East.
Join in a discussion with Ahmed Shawki, editor of the
ISR, about empire and resistance in the Persian Gulf
and Middle East today.
