There will be a statewide work stoppage/buy nothing day in protest of the imminent repeal of SB60, which would have allowed our "undocumented" brothers and sisters the right to drive without threat of deportation in California. 
 
Don't go to work, school, or buy anything that day, as part of a statewide effort to shut down the CA economy that day.

Actually, SB60 would be a good way of identifyling them. When they show up at the DMV and cannot provide proof of citizenship, send 'em back where they came from.

If they want to come back, let 'em follow the established rules and procedures and do it legally.

Normally I would post something about America being a land of immigrants and that we ought to allow people who come in search of a better life pursue it. But since I´m responding to xenophobic conservatives, I'll put it in terms you understand: selfish greed.

So did your family have to go through the same nonsense that immigrants today have to go through to get citizenship? And since when does getting here earlier than the next family give you more of a right to be considered a citizen? I could trace a relative back to the mayflower, but I wouldnt say that that makes me more entiltled to citizenship than someone whose relatives got here in 1750.

And I don´t mind paying my own car insurance. But get real, taking away peoples lisences wont deport anyone, it´ll just make the freeways more unsafe.

America wasn't even a sovereign nation in 1750. Hell, they didn't frame the Declaration of Independence until 1776. There were no "citizens" back then.

And a lot has changed since the days of Lewis and Clark. There wouldn'd be immigration laws without good reason. Disease, overpopulation, terrorist threats, all are good enough reasons for me.

As far as I'm concerned, we should immediately cease allowing immigrants into America and have a moratorium for the next five years. Sort of, a cooling off period.

In the meantime, we should put the troops on the borders, especially the southern border.

Then, in five years, we could start allowing a reasonable, sustainable number of immigrants to come to America. I'd say maybe 100,000 per year.
