Veteran's Day

by c/o nonanarchist1033 Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003 at 3:43 PM

Today is Veteran's Day. If you appreciate the freedoms you enjoy today, thank a veteran, and pause for a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made to ensure you enjoy your freedoms.

It is the Soldier,

Not the reporter who has given us freedom of press

It is the Soldier,

Not the poet who has given us freedom of speech

It is the Soldier,

Not the campus organizer who has given us freedom to demonstrate

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,

Who serves beneath the flag,

And whose coffin is draped by the flag,

Who allows the protester to burn the flag

Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

...who dies and sheds their life's blood when greedy politicians corrupt and pervert their desire to serve.

It is the Soldier who dies for the increased wealth of those who have never served and never will.

It is the Soldier betrayed by those to whom allegiance sworn.

Ask the forgotten men and women who fought in Korea.

Ask the lost souls tortured by memories of 'Nam.

Ask the ailing and sick of Gulf War I.

Ask those now serving the greed of a lying Deserter.

Many give lip service to their honor and sacrifice, but what about the reality?

Thank you, veteran.

We love this country and the people. We put our lives on the line

in harms way knowing death was the deal of a hand when the air was filled with steel.

. I still love this country.

I just hate the maggots that have worked their way into its soul.
