Nanotech, animal testing and military

by ban military research Saturday, Nov. 08, 2003 at 2:47 AM

Oregon site info on nanotech and military, corporations like Raytheon and Gyre. Primates are strapped to chairs with electrodes on the brain to control robotic arms, called animal machine interface..

Nanotech is the latest military research, for surveillence and other techniques, including microscopic tracking devices that bury themselves under the skin. This seems like science fiction, but is reality. We need to talk about this and let people know what their government is up to..

The image of nanotech as something "cool" needs to be dispelled. This is part of the police state control from corporations like Wackenhut in Florida. The biometrics of facial recognition and other high tech surviellence strategies are measure to maintain control over populations..

This is unpleasent info but people need to know what we're up against. We need to stand against Raytheon and the military-industrial complex while we still can..

What a waste of a monkey!

by Zoo Keeper Saturday, Nov. 08, 2003 at 3:08 AM

It would be much more effective to train the monkey to sell anti-Bush bumper stickers in Harvard Square as it would work for peanuts.

However then Stephen DeVoy would be unemployed (again.....)

Hey!!!

Mebby we can then strap DeVoy to a chair with electrodes on his brain to control robotic arms, call it an anarchist machine interface..

Can I flip the on switch..... please?????

I don't think that nano technology, like artificial intelligence is the end all-be all that the proponents claimed it to be. Working with some of the major engineers in the field and discussing the problems involved, I have to offer the opinion that these wet dreams of science will run into, as they have already, problems that glaringly show that premises

they were under when they thought they knew enough to begin to open these hard nuts of research, were wrong and that they were ignorant of their own limitations and

lack of understanding of the devilish details. It's kinda like the late 1800's when science decided that we were on the end of the path to understanding all there was to know.

I believe this to be another boondoggle and tax payer ripoff.

Wonderful news

Contrary to the disinformation above, this research is being conducted at Duke University -- not defense contractors.

Dr Nicolelis and his colleagues are aiming toward the goal of allowing amputees, and those who are paralysed, to be fitted with artificial limbs they can control.

"What a waste of a monkey!" somebody says above.

What a bitter, cruel person.

humanity?

it is logical to assume that nanotech is created in an attempt to control the public. once, i might have felt sorry for the animals being tested on, but one must realize that humans nearly dominate nature in all of its forms and is near completion of this. an interesting note on nanotech development is its use in creating "super soldiers". Of all the possible military applications of nanotech, the one that stood out to me most, is the implantation of communicators and detection equipment into the human brain. Mind control anyone? imagine having an unquestioning nanotech army at ones disposal. i believe the answer to this problem is simple. put yourself in a position to be the man on top or fall in line.

It is people like you that kept humans in the dark ages for so many years!

Witches are a thing of the past!

Let science and new hi-tech take its course.

It is our future.

I applaud the companies and organisations that back hi-tech research!

ADVANCEMENT IS A GOOD THING!
