America's Free Trade Despotism is in the Wings

OPINION -- Galesburg, Illinois is a town of 33,000 inhabitants tucked away in the western protrusion of the State. It is home to Knox College and was the birthplace of Carl Sandburg. Both the town and Knox College were birthed here in 1837 and both were deeply involved in the abolition movement.
College towns are often prime locations for business. They not only offer technical assistance but a fertile source of new ideas. The Maytag refrigerator plant is located in Galesburg.
Reuters New Service recently ran a story on the closing of that plant.
By the end of 2004 sixteen hundred of Maytag's former workers will be seeking other employment. The entire plant will be moved to Mexico. Jerry Wilmouth, a father of three employed there at .00 an hour says of the job loss, "Every decent-paying job in the area is going, going or already gone and I'm faced with taking a job for , , an hour".
The Article goes on to relate the extensive peripheral damage resulting from this loss.
"Everyone from sheet metal suppliers to local firms providing toilet paper and light bulbs rely on the plant for business..... For every Maytag worker laid off, nearly three other jobs will disappear as the loss of so many high-paying jobs ripples through the economy -- taking total jobs losses to 4,166."
A recent article pegged the unemployment rate in the town of Rockford, Illinois at over 11%. Since 2001, eleven thousand aerospace workers have lost their jobs in Wichita, Kansas; across the Country the total job loss is estimated at 2.5 million. America is being systematically robbed of its industrial base. The results of this free market fall out are devastating to our families and to those whose living has been dependent on the jobs that are lost.
It may take several decades for the results of this horrendous injustice to work itself out. As the standard of living of the America worker is brought down to that of the Chinese worker, some stability will again return to American society. When that has been consummated Asia will be in the position America enjoyed at the end of the Nineteenth Century. They will own most of the world's wealth. International corporations under Fascist control will domicile the elite and the world will have two classes; wealthy and powerful, and poor and helpless. By that time the white race will be a minority and what is left of American society will have lost its former glory and settled into tyrannical poverty. Until that happens we will continue to lose jobs.
Freedom among individuals and businesses within nations to trade as they see fit should be one of the components of liberty. However, when globalism takes precedence over the welfare of the Nation and American citizens are robbed of their wealth and of the opportunity to maintain their living standard an entirely new question comes to the fore.
Responsibility for the loss of the Maytag Refrigerator plant cannot be placed with the executives at Maytag. The options our government has left them are either move or allow those who do move to force you out of business.
Carolyn Summers, laid off by Boeing two years ago, says "I wish the government would really see what it is doing to the American people. We built this country, and I feel that they're letting it turn into almost a ghost town.....She blames free trade and President Bush for allowing U.S. companies to outsource overseas."
Most lovers of liberty would support the Libertarian Free Trade platform if free trade was being allowed rather than manipulated.
What is unfortunate is that most Americans are giving the government a pass believing their trade policies are merely misdirected. Reality is that "free market" is being used as a method of stealing America's wealth in preparation for global government.
In a recent documentary on the History Channel, Joseph Stalin's life and works were featured. Stalin was a ruggedly handsome, well coiffed human butcher who ruled Russia for some twenty-five years. In addition to 27 million Russians killed in WWII (the largest number in history), Stalin murdered over 100 million more. Russian citizens, transported one hundred to a box car over 4000 miles to Siberia, believing Stalin could not know what was happening wrote letters requesting him to intercede on their behalf. Till the end of his reign, most Russians revered him and looked to him as a God.
Key figures in our American Government have a grudging admiration for Russia and for the control Stalin exerted over that Nation.
When faith in the One True God wanes, secular substitutes are quick to follow and those secular substitutes are exceedingly malevolent. Americans have tread the same path as the Russians. They have placed more faith in government than in the One True God. The result of this idolatry is that dominion has been transferred from The Righteous God to an evil cabal and our freedom is quickly being replaced with oppression.
American government has become a danger to its own people. Dissent has already been strongly condemned. Secularism has no regard for human life. If man evolved from primordial slime he is of little worth and godless governments will murder their own citizens. America is controlled by secularists.
Barbara Burstyn writes from Canada in a piece entitled Only in America regarding Section 127 of Patriot II. "So imagine yourself caught up in an investigation following, say, your attendance at an anti-war rally. Remember, under this act you can't call a lawyer or even a family member. Essentially, once you've slipped into the wide cracks of the over-broad definition of a terrorist, you have no rights at all. And if perhaps you died while under interrogation, the autopsy results could show a suicide or some other finding favorable to the Government."
Stalin killed millions of citizens who did not look to him as a god. In the absence of massive Divine intervention, there may be a time, not far off, when America's dissenters, ever suspected dissenters, will disappear without a trace.
