October 22nd March to be Held in Anaheim

On Wednesday, October 22, 2003, a coalition of Orange County human rights advocates will converge upon Anaheim Police Station to protest against police brutality, racial profiling, and the continued presence of an INS agent within Anaheim City Jail. October 22nd is the National Day of Protest Against Police Brutality. In the past five years, the Orange County District Attorney has investigated fifty-four officers involved in shootings. Out of the fifty-four cases reviewed, NOT ONE OFFICER was prosecuted with charges of criminal misconduct (Source: http://www.ocweekly.com/ink/03/45/news-schou.php Police officers should not be above the law, but that appears to be the protocol in Orange County.

The march will begin at 4:00 P.M. The crowd will gather at the intersection of Katella and Harbor, to arrive at the police station around 6:00 P.M. This will be a peaceful walk, in honor and in memory of the victims of police abuse and murder in Orange County, such as seventeen-year-old Elmer Bustos, who was murdered by Santa Ana police on January 27, 2003. Feel free to bring musical instruments, signs, banners, and other useful implements.
