Dirty South Earth First! is calling for forest defenders and anti-Maxxam activists to rally in Houston, TX Oct 17-19, for a weekend of actions against Maxxam, Pacific Lumber, Charles Hurwitz and the other faces and names of Maxxam Corp. in their hometown.

Maxxam through its subsidiary Pacific Lumber, has been clear cutting the forests of the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years. Through their unsustainable logging practices, they have devestated ecosystems in their path, as well as surrounding communities. During Maxxam's reign of terror, many people have realized that this greed-driven destruction must stop in order to save what remains of America's old-growth forests (-3%). The Pacific Northwest has seen protests, treesits, rallies, lockdowns and road blockades in efforts stop or slow the liquadation of our forests, while the individuals causing this destruction sit comfortably in fancy homesand high-rises,thousands of miles away from the forests. DSEF! has launched a campaign against the individuals responsible for the ecocide, not in the forests but in their own front yards!

People have put their lives on the line for years and still Maxxam devestates the Earth, robs pension funds and crushes unions. The days of hiding behind the corporate facade are over! The people who make these decisions need to be help personally responsible for their actions. NO LONGER WILL THEY HIDE IN TEXAS AS TREES FALL, ANIMALS DIE AND COMMUNITIES SUFFER. The Dirty South Earth First! campaign encourages everyone concerned about the well being of this wonderful planet to do what they feel is necessary to nonviolently, but confrontationally, stop the real "ECOTERRORISTS"
