GovArnold

by si Thursday, Oct. 09, 2003 at 3:03 AM

Watching Jesse Jackass and the Dem party leaders lastnight cry in their soup was a laugh. Jesse Jackass had to be the best of all the dumbfucks though. "Da vo-ters was dis-en-fran-chised. Ma-ny was turned a-way from the polls in mi-nor-i-ty a-re-as. Dis is a great dis-ser-vice of jus-tice. We will be tak-ing these mat-ters to court." And then there were the usual crybabies who were saying they were going to start a recall petition was soon as Arnold was sworn in. And the typical nuts who claim they are going to bring up criminal charges against Arnold, which isn't going to happen for several reasons. All in all, just watching these idiots in total panic and crying and whinning because the Democractic children can't get their way was a hoot. I swear, when liberals lose it's just funny to watch how outrageous they get. We're not taking about the most emotionally stable people to begin with, but couple that with getting punished by mother and the "I'm feeling sorry for myself" in them just naturally flows out.

Recall the recall!!!

by Recall the recall!!! Thursday, Oct. 09, 2003 at 3:12 AM

Now Democrats and Independents and Republicans, who know to a person that the recall was bull, must work to stop this republican takeover. First Republicans stole the White House now they have stolen the Governor’s house in California. In Texas they are working to steal congressional seats in illegal congressional redistricting. Democrats must fight back. Democrats need to stop being so damn gracious in a time of political war. Democrats must fight the way the other side has in order to defeat these fascist. They must use any and all means necessary to ensure the survival of democracy and the Constitution of the United States against all those with money and drunk with power and believe they can just destroy it as the people sleep. All those who truly believe in justice must work to recall the recall. It is just. It is right. Recall the recall. Recall the recall!!!

SCHWARZENEGGER ADMIRED HITLER

by http://www.nytimes.com/2003/10/03/national/03 Thursday, Oct. 09, 2003 at 5:28 AM

ADAM NAGOURNEY and DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK, NY TIMES - A film producer who chronicled Arnold Schwarzenegger's rise to fame as a champion bodybuilder in the 1970's circulated a book proposal six years ago that quoted the young Mr. Schwarzenegger expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler. The book proposal by the producer, George Butler, included what were presented as verbatim excerpts from interviews with Mr. Schwarzenegger in the filming of the documentary "Pumping Iron." In a part of the interview not used in the film, Mr. Schwarzenegger was asked to name his heroes - "who do you admire most."
"It depends for what," Mr. Schwarzenegger said, according to the transcript in the book proposal. "I admired Hitler, for instance, because he came from being a little man with almost no formal education up to power. And I admire him for being such a good public speaker."
In addition to the transcript, Mr. Butler wrote in his book proposal that in the 1970's, he considered Mr. Schwarzenegger a "flagrant, outspoken admirer of Hitler." In the proposal, Mr. Butler also said he had seen Mr. Schwarzenegger playing "Nazi marching songs from long-playing records in his collection at home" and said that the actor "frequently clicked his heels and pretended to be an S.S. officer."

Hasta la Vista

by Ffutal Thursday, Oct. 09, 2003 at 10:27 AM

Gray Davis is out, Arnold Schwarzenegger is in, and a great political show is over. Official returns from the California secretary of state's office show voters approving the recall of California's Democratic governor by a margin of 54.9% to 45.1%, with 99% of precincts reporting. In the race to replace Davis, Republican Schwarzenegger has a commanding 48.2%; his closest rival, Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, a Democrat, has just 32.1%.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/10/08/recall.main/index.html

http://vote2003.ss.ca.gov/Returns/recall/00.htm

These results should lay to rest those claims that the recall is "undemocratic." It's true that the potential existed for a somewhat screwy outcome, in which more people voted "for Davis"--that is, against the recall--than for the new governor. But Schwarzenegger has some 3.6 million votes, while only 3.5 million "no" votes on the recall have been registered, so there's no question that a plurality of Californians backed their new governor.

In addition, Republican Tom McClintock, who is more conservative than Schwarzenegger, picked up 13.3% of the vote, giving the two GOP candidates more than 60% of the vote between them, in a state that Al Gore won by nearly 12% and that gave Bill Clinton a majority in 1996 despite Ross Perot's presence in the race. As for the other also-rans, Green Peter Camejo managed just 2.8%, considerably less than the 5% he got in 2002. And it's back to Hooterville for Arianna Huffington, who got a measly 0.6%.

Remember the famous red-blue split in the 2000 presidential election? The California secretary of state's office has a map that shows California is similarly divided. Counties that voted against the recall are show in red; those that voted for it are green. The Northern California coast is all red from Monterey up to Humboldt (only the northernmost coastal county, Del Norte, is green). Every inland county is green, except a few on the outskirts of San Francisco, and so is every Southern California county except Los Angeles, where the antirecall margin was 51% to 49%.

http://vote2003.ss.ca.gov/Returns/recall/mapN4.htm

Gov. Davis gave a gracious concession speech, though supporters booed his conciliatory words. "Let's put the chaos and the division of the recall behind us and do what's right for California," he said. Amen--though if he'd done what's right for California in the first place, he would now be looking forward to another three years in the governor's mansion.

Ahnold, you are lame, all of us Californians DID NOT vote for you, just as all of the U.S. didn't vote for Bush. This fake recall is a joke. Gary Coleman is a more qualified governor/actor/puppet.

If voting solved anything, it would be illegal. Political parties arguing against each other is just another tool to breed more hate, which the U.S. government thrives on.

"We the people", the Bill of Rights, U.N. peace, and our freedom doesn't mean shit anymore....and you will be thrown into a Bush prison if you aren't brainwashed and don't brown nose his stale, lying ass. Observations

by pol Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at 4:17 AM

Davis would be more appropriate wearing a hammer and sickle and carring pictures of Stalin and Chairman Mao, but you make a good point. Never have we seen any photoshop pics of Democrats dressed up in Nazi garb, yet there are many on the Indymedia sites who will tell you that Democrats and Republicans are all equally "pro-capitalist fascist".

When I used to read SF-IMC, many, many times those over there refered to SF Mayor Willie Brown and Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown as fascists. Never saw anyone superimpose a pic of them in Nazi garb.

It's not like I really care, this place has always been outlandish. It's just interesting that those who consider all pro-capitalist to be fascist, regardless of their party affiliation, only REALLY get upset of it's a Republican, and not really upset at all if it's a Democrat.

Let me Get this right...

by Brandon T. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at 5:29 AM

Nonanarchist, Bush Ad., I totally agree with you and the other repubs. that say that Gray Davis may have fucked up things in California, although I don't know for sure.

But I don't understand why you would elect a movie star-allegations aside-to fix California's economy and energy problems. If ANY other republican candidate had been elected, I would have had NO problem with it. Arnold isn't a bad guy (I have groped several asses in my day) but why would you elect him to solve the problems California (one of the largest states) had after Gray Davis...

I can see where the Californian voters were fed up with all of the bullshit, but how do you rectify those problems by putting an actor (he's not a career politician) in the Governor's mansion ?

Okay, But...

by Brandon T. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at 6:02 AM

I agree. People (me too) are sick of career liars. Almost all politicians are. But you didn't explain why you would elect a movie star. There were plenty of successful business owners, lawyers (okay, maybe not), and other successfully established corporate types-don't you think that they would be better choices for the Governorship ? It's not about Arnold, it's about credibility. Arnold was known EXCLUSIVELY as a movie star until this recall election...

If New York had the same energy crises, and the same immigration problems, and the same +8 billion dollar debt, would you elect Bruce Willis just because Pataki (this is in theory) has been pinned as the cause of the downfalls ?

I think the fact that there were so many oddball candidates in the race helped Arnold-I'm not saying he wasn't fairly elected, I believe he was, but sometimes you just have to pick the lesser of two "evils"

And thanks for not responding with trite insults and base comments, Answer.

succssful....successfully

by answer Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at 6:18 AM

I think you hit on it again. Arnold was viewed as being successful at the things he has tired. He was a successful body builder, he was a successful movie star, he was successful at marketing himself. People looked at him and determined that if he was so successful at the other things, he might be successful at doing what it takes to get the state turned around.

If you've been in the business world long enough, you'll note several traits of successful people, among them being they never say "can't", they are very confident in their abilities, and they have egos that need to be fed. To them, failure is not an option. I have to believe the people of California saw those traits in Arnold.

Other than that, and the career politician thing, that's what I base it on.

LA Weekly

by Marc Cooper Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at 10:01 AM

Refusing to validate or even recognize the raw voter resentment against the political cesspool of Sacramento, liberals wound up pinned up against the wall, on the losing side of an historic voter revolt. As the insurgency swelled, the best that liberal activists could do was plug their ears, cover their eyes and rather mindlessly repeat that this all was some sinister plot linked to Florida, Texas, Bush, the Carlyle Group, Enron, and Skull and Bones. By bunkering down with the discredited and justly scorned Gray Davis, they wound up defending an indefensible status quo against a surging wave of popular disgust. So gross was their miscalculation that the campaign ended last week with the lobbyist-infested state Capitol being surrounded by 10,000 broom-waving Arnold supporters instead of by what should have been an army of enraged reformers and progressives.

The harder the Democrats now have to work to hold on to constituencies they'd rather take for granted, so much the better. One day they may actually get it.
