The Raza Press Association(RPA), formerly known as the Chicano Press Association, will be holding a national summit in the City of Ypisilanti, Michigan, on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. BECOME PART OF HISTORY, HELP BUILD AN INDEPENDENT RAZA PRESS, ATTEND THE
RAZA PRESS ASSOCIATION SUMMIT
The Raza Press Association(RPA), formerly known as the Chicano Press
Association, will be holding a national summit in the City of Ypisilanti,
Michigan, on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. The summit will be
held on Saturday, September 20, 2003, from 12 PM to 5 PM, under the
summit1s slogan 3Develop The Means To Wake Up The Masses!2.
The RPA1s membership includes newspapers, internet groups, radio
programmers, publishers, and graphic artists. The current membership of RPA
consist of Voz Fronteriza, Aztlannet.com, La Verdad, Voz del Pueblo, Sexto
Sol, Barrio Aztlan, Calaca Press, Pueblo Unido, Las Calles y La
Torcida,Medios de Aztlan, and El Popo.
Since its 3reestablishment2 in 1989 (it had previously existed in the early
1970s), the RPA has a long and consistent history of struggling for the
rights of Raza through the publication of literature focusing on raising the
social consciousness of our people. The RPA is the only organization made
up of progressive and revolutionary press/media workers in existence today.
Members of the RPA are required to not only report on issues affecting
nuestro pueblo, but must be active participants in the struggle for social
change. Through its publications, the RPA1s principle objective is to break
the shackles of mind enslavement perpetuated by the capitalist-corporate
media.
We call on all progressive Raza working on any form of movement media
expression (journalists, artists, poets, etc.) to be come part of the
righteous work of the RPA. Become pat of history and the solution to our
gente1s liberation; be part of a committed struggle at the national level;
and build an independent Raza Press Association, join the RPA!
