Watch the IMC communty accuse each other of censorship.
The collective at NYC-IMC made an independent decision to remove some the the racist, Jew-hating, Brazilian artist/pretender Latuff's anti-semetic drawing from their website, and "authority hating activists" everywhere are converging on this date on the NYC-IMC site to demand that they don't exercise their own free-will. Won't you attend and watch these idiots eat each other alive.

Which just goes to emphasize that the trolls on this board are also FReepers.
As for NYCIndyMedia, I am torn. I believe that Latuff's work is not anti-Semitic. I also believe that NYC IndyMedia has the right to set its own standards. The best solution is to build an alternative NYC IndyMedia that does not impose Zionist restrictions on content.

Just like sf-imc.
The more a topic is anti-Jew, the more they like it.
If anyone posts anything critical of Palestinians, Islam, or Arabs, it gets pushed to the "hidden" file faster than you can say "anti-Semitism".
Sounds just like what you're after.

The NYCIMC has been co-opted by pro-Zionist white liberals. Being anti-Zionist does not constitute being Anti-Jew. Ask any progressive Orthodox Jew from the Middle East or the East Coast, like the ones who participated in the Pro-Palestine marches in DC in the fall and spring of 2002 and they'll tell you the distinction between them and the white privilege-based poseurs in the US and the Israeli government. Under the Ottoman Turks and Moor, Israel and Palestine had religious tolerance for Jews, Muslims, and Christians, but the Anglo-Saxon monarchs from Western Europe screwed it all up and brought imperialism and white supremacy to the middle east and its been f#$ked up ever since, and only got worse with the state of Israel being set up as a Zionist institution, just like the Judeo-Christian Zionist ideology that was behind the Puritans claims on America as "their land" granted by God. Please, the IMC does not bash jews, it criticizes Israelis who have made a travesty of the holy land with their corrupted, white supremacist ideology of zionism, which is similar to the manifest destiny concept that Anglo-Saxons used to steal North America from the Native Americans. That is why zionists and pseudo-Christians on the right like Jerry Fallwell can do a square dance nowardays waiting for the return of the Messiah and the opportunity to trick the zionists into becoming Christians. Get a clue and realize you're just a pawn for white supremacy and British/US imperialism. And this has nothing to do with the nazi skinheads who are too stupid to realize that their own version of Christianity is just as much a part of the zionist ideology of the jews they claim to hate. Ya'll so stupid..its unfortunate that people have to die due to your ignorance. NYC needs a new IMC...

"Being anti-Zionist does not constitute being Anti-Jew."
Nothing could be more ludicrous.
Being there's no reason on earth to be "anti-Zionist" unless you are anti_jew.
Zionism is simply the belief that Jews should have a homeland of their own. Israel is simply defending land that is rightfully theirs. Not because of some 2000 year old text. But because they either bought the land (first Israeli settlers), were awarded in (UN 1948) or legitimately gained the land after defeating neighboring invading armies (1967).
The only possible reason anyone could have for hating a movement which seeks to defend itself and keep what little land they own is the hatred of the people themselves.
It's amazing that the racist anti_zionists actually think that anyone actually believes their nonsense about not being racist.

Orthodox Jews and pro-Palestinian supporters united in a protest march against zionism in Durban, South Africa, Friday Aug. 31, 2001 to coincide with the opening of the UN Racism Conference. The series of photographs on the banner show Mohammed al-Dura, 12, crouching behind his father Jamal al-Dura with Israeli forces shooting at them (September 2000). Contrary to common perception, Jewish anti-Zionism is not restricted exclusively to the well know Jewish anti-Zionist movements such as Satmar and Neturei Karta. There are in fact many >>>Jewish movements<<<, groups and organizations whose ideology regarding Zionism and the so-called "State of Israel" is that of the unadulterated Torah position that any form of Zionism is heresy and that the existence of the so-called "State of Israel" is illegitimate.

"Yasser Arafat stormed out of a meeting of the Fatah Central Council in Ramallah on Thursday after a bitter confrontation with Gen. Nasser Youssef, the nominee to be interior minister in the new cabinet," reports the Jerusalem Post: According to well-informed sources in Ramallah, an enraged Arafat left the meeting after Youssef described him as "the most incompetent revolutionary leader in history." The sources said Arafat hurled insults at Youssef as he walked out of the room. The same article describes a mob scene outside Arafat's compound: Arafat told the rally that the Palestinians will march towards Jerusalem until they achieve victory. The crowd responded by shouting, "We will sacrifice millions of martyrs on the road to Jerusalem." http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/A/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1063266359626 Seems to me Arafat is indeed incompetent if the best he can do is lead his people in a mass suicide several orders of magnitude bigger than Jonestown. Arafat won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1994. Reuters reports that both Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak and Jordan's King Abdullah are warning Israel not to expel Arafat. Abdullah says expulsion would be a "grave mistake," while Mubarak says: "Nobody can tell what would happen in the Palestinian territories if Arafat is expelled. Terrorism, violence will erupt everywhere." http://asia.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=worldNews&storyID=3429125 http://famulus.msnbc.com/FamulusIntl/reuters09-12-023927.asp One suspects that the real reason Arab rulers want Israel to hang on to Arafat is that they don't want to have to take him in themselves. This unsympathetic profile notes that Arafat has previously been expelled from Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Other than suicidal Palestinians, no one wants this guy. http://www.shmana.com/art/profile_arafat.html

I agree that I may take the extreme at times and may come across as way too harsh.
But here's my defense of my charges of anti-semitism.
When I come across someone who is very much opposed to Israel and it's policies, claiming to be concerned about the "palestinians" and their rights YET is utterly unconcerned about the plight of any other arabs I become suspicious. Now I'm sure some will say, "Oh but I DO feel for the slaves in Sudan or even the plight of the "palestinians" in Lebanon and Jordan". But we never hear anything. It's all exclusively the evil Israeli's versus the saintly Palestinians.
If there is an honest concern for human rights and peace then there has to be discussion of ALL elements of it. To only focus on one small peiece is a bit dodgy. I've said before around here that Isarel is by no means free of guilt in all of this and MUST be the side to make the first overtures of peace. But they are just one side on a two way street. There is never even a hint that the Palestinians may have a role in all this as well. There is just blanket condemnation of Israel and blanket lionizing of Palestine.
That's why I think it all smacks of racism.
Anyway, there you go.
By the way, ever listen to 16horsepower?

I agree, to a point. But could you imagine that there is someone who has similar thoughts but responds to your polarized argument in polarized terms?
And also, there is the fact that the Israel/Palestine issue is front page stuff, and so gets front page debate and conventional "wisdom" from both sides...which is mostly hollow, empty hot air. But I think screaming racism is a little stretch....if it were visa-versa, and people were dragging obscure Israel condemnations from the back pages....such as blaming the activities of this misadministration on the Israel lobby, I would tend to agree.
16hp? Heard about but never heard...how would you classify 'em?

All good points.
For the most part, I'm sure you're probably right. Most of the anti-Israel crowd aren't flat out racists I suppose, but I still maintain that there is an element of "group think" when it comes to opposing Isarel. It is simply the "thing to do" if you are on the left, it seems.
I don't know, I just think that both sides need to be accountable; not just Israel.
