This recall election is a lot like three-dimensional chess. On the upper board the governor is busy deflecting voter anger to avoid being removed in October. The middle board is the playing field for a wide array of candidates, all taking a golden opportunity in the golden state. While at the lower board the nexus of maneuvers from above and electorate sensibilities are preparing to take the final move in the voting booth.

Into Infamy --- Could California be the next Florida?

Just suppose something like this takes place…
The first question on the ballot.
Yes on recall 51%
No on recall 49% --- Davis is out.

And just suppose the second question on the ballot ends up like this.
--- Vote for new governor ---

22% Schwarzenegger
20% Bustamante
17% McClintock
15% Ueberroth
12% Huffington
11% Camejo
3% others

--- Government by the Focus Group and For the Focus Group ---
The result of an election where the governor is selected by 22% of the electorate, while an incumbent loses with a 27-point advantage doesn’t support the principal of government by the people.
