Violencia en las calles del país

Puerto Rico vive en un estado de guerra civil. Hagamos un analisis general sobre toda la violencia que se vive en las calles del país.



La violencia es un fenómeno que podemos encontrar en muchos lugares. La misma no es un fenómeno de una clase en particular, es una acción utilizada por distintos sectores de la sociedad para alcanzar poder o tratar de resolver “problemas”. En la mayoría de los casos la violencia es utilizada de manera ofensiva y los menos de manera defensiva. Puerto Rico vive a diario asesinatos, violaciones, asaltos, etc.

Los puertorriqueños vivimos en un clima tipo “guerra civil” donde nos matamos unos a otros diariamente. Semanalmente ocurren de 20 a 25 asesinatos. Se dice que esta “guerra civil” que vivimos está relacionada directamente al negocio de las drogas y específicamente al factor de lucha por el control de las ventas de drogas. Pero todo este asunto de la violencia va más allá del asunto de las drogas ilegales, “Y es que en el sistema económico capitalista en que vivimos no propicia una cultura de paz. “

Nuestra sociedad está dividida en clases, hay unos que tienen demasiado y hay otros que por más que trabajemos no tenemos. En los sectores pobres de nuestro país (caseríos, barriadas, etc.) se concentra el negocio de la venta ilegal de drogas y por ende allí es que se dan las luchas para tener el control de las mismas.

En este país existe una alta taza de desempleo que cada día va en aumento, los pobres no tenemos buenas opciones de trabajo, los pobres siempre nos tenemos que someter a la explotación. Además de esto el gobierno acostumbra quitar a las familias pobres los beneficios económicos y ayudas como la Tarjeta de la Familia cuando estas consiguen trabajos que sabemos que no son bien pagados y no alcanza para el alto costo de vida. El dinero que el estado le provee a la gente pobre no alcanza para todas las necesidades básicas, entonces como dice el dicho “el que necesita, busca”. La gente busca vías alternas para sufragar sus gastos.

La educación pública que el estado provee es catastrófica. De manera que la juventud no tiene metas ni propósitos. Sus mentes son limitadas a un mundo muy pequeño que se reduce a tener el dinero para tener status. Ese status social que sus padres nunca pudieron tener y que es el sueño de todo pobre. Los jóvenes son las victimas más comunes de los grandes narcotraficantes. Son obligados a hacer el trabajo “sucio” en la calle, ya sea cometer asesinatos a sueldo”gatillero”, vender droga en el punto”runner”, transportar la droga “mula”, etc. Mientras los narcotraficantes viven en grandes mansiones y se dan grandes lujos haciendo el trabajo más fácil.

Posiblemente el problema de la desigualdad social-económica que vivimos y por supuesto la filosofía del sistema capitalista: “si no tienes dinero eres nadie”, que también auspicia el consumerismo desmedido y el empeño del ciudadano en tener más y más dinero. Propicia la mentalidad de hacer lo que sea para tener poder y status. Los corruptos son el mejor ejemplo, sacrifican sus carreras, familias, “prestigio” por querer tener más y más.

Además vemos que el principal propagador de la violencia es el Gobierno. El gobierno hostiga los ciudadanos mediante su cuerpo opresor policíaco. Cada día la policía se convierte en enemigo de la sociedad en vez de ser la seguridad para el ciudadano, cada día estamos más vigilados. El estado justifica guerras injustas donde mueren miles de inocentes en otros países. (Irak, Afganistán). El estado sigue aumentando el presupuesto militar y reduciendo el presupuesto educativo agravando así más la situación. La raíz de tanto problema es el sistema capitalista en sí mismo. Mientras exista desigualdad económica y educación pésima para la mayoría

La solución del problema está muy lejos mientras continuemos con esta estructura social capitalista. Si en realidad queremos cambiar la situación que vivimos, se necesita un cambio social. Busquemos alternativas nosotros los ciudadanos. No le dejemos todo en las manos de los políticos corruptos que se aprovechan de su poder. Identifiquemos un sistema donde exista una sola clase social. Donde existan reales opciones de progreso. Que el progreso llegue a todos los lugares y a todas las esferas sociales. Cultivemos nuestro pensamiento para que los mitos y mentiras no se apoderen de nuestras mentes. “Revolution is the solution".

PR lives in a state of civil war. Lets make a general analysis on the violence in the streets there, a phenomenon that we find in many places, not restricted to any particular social class, but PR has been living with daily killings, rapes, and people being assaulted. Much violence is carried out offensively, but also sometimes in a defensive way.

Puerto Ricans are living in a state of civil war, where people are being killed every day. There are some 25 killings per week, mostly killings related to drug trafficing, but at the same time goes beyond the drug trade. The capitalistic system does not promote a peaceful coexistence in the society.

Our society is divided into classes. There are those that have more than they need, and others that work even harder, but don't even have the basic essentials.

In the poor sectors of our patria drug trade abounds, so there is the fight to control turf, thus the drug business.

In PR unemployment is rampant and is on the increase with the poor having fewer work options, and are therefore exploited the most.When the poor do find work, all their social benefits are removed, even though their income is minimum, and the pay is insufficient. The finaces that the state provides does not cover the basic necesities of the people, so like the saying goes: "He that is in need, goes looking to meet his needs". Thus alternatives are sought to cover expenses.

Public education provided for by the state is catastrophic. Youth have no goals. Their minds are being short changed to a world that tells them that you need to have money to have status. It is the status that their parents were unable to achieve, and the dream of all poor people. The young are the most vulnerable to the narco trafficers, and are forced to do the dirty work on the street corners, to commit killings on behalf of the bigger drug trafficers, doing the runnings, and transportings. While the big "mafiosos" live in mansions, a life of luxury and leizure.

The inequality of this social economic system under which we live, and naturally the capitalistic system that tells you: "if you don't have money, you are nothing" with consumerism being the underlying thrust as to why citizens must accumulate money by whatever means to achieve power and status. The corrupt are the best example of this, and sacrifice their careers, prestiege, and families just to have more and more.

One can see the government being the main culprit of this violence, because it holds citizens hostage through its oppressive political body. More and more the police are seen as the enemy instead of serving the people, and it is becoming more and more of a police state. The state tries to justify unjust wars that that kill thousands of innocents in other countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.

The state increases military spending while reducing the education budget, aggravating the situation even more. Capitalism is the root of the problem. Meanwhile the unequal economic and educational system exists.

The solution is very far from being reached under capitalism. If in reality we want to change this situation under which we live, there needs to be social change. We are looking for alternatives. We won't leave it up to the corrupt politcians that use their power opportunistically. We seek a system where only one social class will exist. Where real options for progress will exist. This progress will reach everywhere, to all social spheres. We will cultivate our thought for these goals, and lies will not

I would be happy to see an independent Puerto Rico, but only if they would take back all of the New York Meskins that infest the East. Seems fair.
