"It's dead and gone. It never worked anywhere, never could work, never will work, failed, done, gone, history."
As long a people share (social) rather than steal (capital) there will be socialism.

The state needs someone who will cut government expenses, like a Thomas McClintock or Bill Simon. Also, these federally mandated entitlement programs need to go, and the state needs to stand up to the Fed and demand that the citizens of this state should not have to bear the burden of these expenses. Also, the Fed should not fund them either. We are giving money away in the form of entitlement programs to people who do not contribute money directly into the system in the form of income taxes, and we can't afford it.

....like the bailout of the Utilities back in '98? You're right, we can't afford it, we should demand that money back or seize their assets....

When a state caps energy prices rather than letting market forces determine the price, the people feel all warm and fuzzy because Big Brother government is looking out for them, but eventually the government will screw them. Lesson learned for Californians? Probably not.

umm, do you even know what the fuck you are talking about? The state did not cap energy prices...the utilities capped the prices. The prices were capped by AB1890, which was drafted by the untility lobby. The cap was a bone tossed out to help pass the BILLION dollar bailout. The utilites gambled that the rates would not go above the cap in a deregulated market. They lost.
Now, when you gamble in Las Vegas...can you get the taxpayers to cover your losses? No? Then why should we let utilites get away with that?
Do a little research before you bark next time...

"Now, when you gamble in Las Vegas...can you get the taxpayers to cover your losses? No? Then why should we let utilites get away with that?"
Jumping in here.
Where exactly, pray tell, are the utilites suppose to get this money to pay for the losses?
When all is said and done, the citizens of California who continue to vote in Liberal Democrats into office are about as sharp as a spoon. Might as well break the bank and vote in a Green party candidate. No reason to stop short.

...shit, that's their problem, isn't it? When they start sharing their profits...then we can talk about sharing their losses....

"When they start sharing their profits"
Buy their stock. It's called dividends, and utilities traditionally pay around 5-7% return.
"The state did not cap energy prices...the utilities capped the prices. The prices were capped by AB1890, which was drafted by the untility lobby."
The state passed the Assembly Bill, therefore they appoved of the price caps. You can't skirt around that.

Well, then let the stockholders bail them out...but don't come cryin' to the taxpayer...
...and AB 1890 was written by the utility lobbyists...the utlities LOBBIED for the price caps...if they didn't want the "burden" (HA!), they wouldn't have had it...to claim otherwise is either a lie or the height of ignorance...
..well, in your case...it is probably both....

"Well, then let the stockholders bail them out"
Don't work that way.
The stockholders already took a hit with a declining price in stock value.
Besides, why are you worried about it? It's the wealthy taxpayers who are going to have to bail them out, not people who don't pay at all, like you.
>...and AB 1890 was written by the utility lobbyists...the utlities LOBBIED for the price caps...if they didn't want the "burden" (HA!), they wouldn't have had it...to claim otherwise is either a lie or the height of ignorance...
I didn't claim otherwise. But, you said "The state did not cap energy prices...the utilities capped the prices." It was the state that passed the Assembly Bill, so in essance the state permitted the capping of prices. It couldn't have happened without the state permitting it. To claim otherwise is both a lie and the height of ignorance.

..nope...wrong AGAIN....
....the bailout was a surcharge on RESIDENTIAL...get that wingnut....R-E-S-I-D-E-N-T-I-A-L consumers. So unless your "wealthy" consumers are wastin' a hell of alot of power...they're are not paying any more than anyone else consuming electricity.
And as to you other claim, what you are saying that although the utilities got exactly what they lobbied for back in '98...they ought to be able to legitimately claim it is an unfair burden to their business now...
...only a rube would buy that horseshit!

...let me get another thing straight...
....the stockholders get the dividends when the stock goes up...
....now when their speculation in poorly managed companies goes belly up, they expect the taxpayer to bailout the business and prop up their investment...
...and you support this...
OK...
SOCIALIST!
OH, and my 401k didn't do too well last year, when can I expect your bailout check?

Wealthy people with bigger houses pay larger power bills. Did you not know that you liberal parasite dumbfuck?? But someone like you who doesn't have two nickels to rub together could never possibly comprehend that, could you??

Would you rather the utility just go broke? That's really putting the working class families dependant upon those jobs and who invested their hardearned retirement money into those utilities first and foremost in your thoughts, you selfish liberal lump of excrement. Elites like you who spit in the face of the working class disgust all of us.
Why don't you get the investors together and buy up the utilites and run them correctly if you're so smartright? Oh, that's right, KP "two nickels" C, you can barely make it from paycheck to paycheck you anti-capitalist vagrant obnoxious shithead!! You got no clue how to run a business.
>OH, and my 401k didn't do too well last year, when can I expect your bailout check?

KPC like insults. It's how he communicates. I just wrote it in a way he stands a better chance of understanding it. No promises he will, in which case, I'll evaluate whether or not he has the capacity to understand it, and if there's a chance he does, I'll answer his insults with insults. If I don't answer, it's because I know he doesn't have the capacity to understand what I'm telling him.
Lighten up, we do the same thing with you.
