Divine Forces Radio needs your help

by Starchild Sunday, Jul. 06, 2003 at 7:59 PM

Divine forces radio needs listeners to flood the k.p.f.k offices with emails and let the program director know you want 3 hours of D.F.R.

Divine forces radio listeners,

I am writing to inform you about a new K.P.F.K policy that will affect Divine Forces Radio. The program director at the station wants to cut an hour off of all “music programs”. As you all know divine forces radio is not just a music program. D.F R is the only voice of the youth and the hip hop community on K.P.F.K .It is a show that allows youth, community organizers, authors, musicians, photographers, and many others an opportunity to give information that affects the world we live in. Our DJs play conscience music that educates as well as entertains the listener. Taking an hour off of this program will essentially marginalize the already marginalized. As listeners of public radio your voice counts. If you want D.F.R to remain on the radio for 3 hours a week this is your opportunity to let K.P.F.K know. If the information that we provide every week has effected your life in some way please let the program director know what this show means to you. If you are a fan of hip hop music and you want to hear more conscience music please let the program director know.

We are asking all of our listeners and supporters to write letters to the program director and tell him what you think of the new changes. The letters do not have to be long, if you only have time to write two sentences, make your words count. These changes will not only affect Divine Forces Radio, but also other programs as well. To see all of the changes you may log on to kpfk.org and click on “program grid”. The changes are set to take place starting July 15th ,that means we have one week to flood the office with letters. Please write to comments@kpfk.org, pd@kpfk.org, and, GM@ kpfk.org.

We appreciate all your support,

Tiah,

Associate producer, Divine Forces Radio

PROGRAMING CHANGES

by Michael Eugene Chapman Thursday, Jul. 24, 2003 at 7:47 PM
mchapman02@dslextreme.com

KPFK has been my station of "Intelligent Choice" for obvious reasons for many a year. I cannot understand why these programs, (spanish language), "only " have taken over several hours every night in the prime time slot. For a Progressive Activist Community Radio Station; one of "VERY" Few in this country; It does seem a bit much. Are these program changes and others related to the ongoing political strife affecting the Pacifica Network in recent years??? The Pacifica Network is our Last and Only Hope as a National Outreach in hopes of preserving any a Semblence of a people's democracy in this Nation. I Hope and Pray that the Egos of well intentioned activists for humanity and social change do not get lost in the process, loose their focus for the greater good of all; and ultimatly contribute to the DEMISE of our last HOPE and OUTREACH, the PACIFICA NETWORK. MIchael E Chapman
