Today, on two separate but related issues, Congressman Dennis Kucinich
demonstrated the kind of Capitol Hill leadership that is winning
widespread support for his presidential campaign.
KUCINICH BILL TO ABOLISH DEATH PENALTY
Rep. Kucinich introduced a bill today that would abolish the federal
death penalty, noting the 101 men and women exonerated from Death Row.
"The imposition of the death penalty," stated Kucinich, "is both
racially and economically biased. African American defendants are more
likely to receive death sentences than others who committed similar
crimes. Life imprisonment without the possibility of parole is an
acceptable moral alternative to capital punishment."
Joining Kucinich in co-sponsoring the "Federal Death Penalty Abolition
Act" were 36 members of Congress, including Progressive Caucus co-chair
Barbara Lee and ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, John
Conyers, as well as many fellow progressives and members of the Black
and Hispanic Caucuses.
BUSH WHITE HOUSE IN "CRISIS OF LEGITIMACY"
Having led opposition to the Iraq war in the House, Kucinich today
continued his demands for the truth about the lead-up to war, asserting
on the House floor:
"This Administration deliberately led this nation to war based on based
on false premises. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Iraq did not
present an imminent threat to the United States...
"This Administration's deception made America less secure. It has cut
off the US from the world community. It violated the US Constitution. It
violated the UN Charter. It violated the Geneva Convention. It continues
to cost the lives of our men and women in uniform. It has cost the lives
of countless innocent Iraqis. It will cost the American taxpayers well
over 0 billion. It has caused tens of billions of dollars in damage
to Iraq. It has strengthened religious fundamentalists who now threaten
the freedom of women in Iraq society.
"America faces a crisis of the legitimacy of the government itself,
which lied to the American people to get approval for a war."
GONE QUIET? While Kucinich has been unrelenting in giving voice to the
millions of people who questioned -- and still question -- the Iraq war,
other presidential candidates seem to have muted their voices. The New
York Times reports today, "Dr. Dean moved sharply away from the issues
that had catapulted him to early prominence: his opposition to the Iraq
war and, to a lesser extent, his advocacy for universal health care...
He did not mention Iraq once in the course of his 26-minute speech."

...charging people 20 bucks for your poetry.
But do your friends know you're a closet capitalist?
It's okay. I'll keep your secret by not buying your book.
Do you oppose the death penalty?
Do you favor abortion?
Could you explain the horrifying dichotomy that wants the guilty to live and the innocent to die?
Did you get that list of abortion clinics I sent you? There are plenty of good targets there!
I oppose the death penalty.
I am in favor of freedom of choice but only up to a certain date in the pregnancy.
I also support the three strikes law but only with violent offenders, not with drug addict nor dealing offenders.
I am in favor of rehabilitation not incarceration.
Also, I am not ashamed of selling my poetry, and you should buy that book now cause one day it'll be a collector's item.
