A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.1MB) and quick download (3.2MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. Netherlands, China, Russia, and Cuba.

Dear Radio Friend,

The latest Shortwave Report (June 6) is up at the websitehttp://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.2MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (28:43) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org

There are several other streams that work better- http://www.freakradio.org Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) now streams this program on Friday at 9:30am (PDST)

Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.radiolavalamp.org

streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.

And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio

This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, China Radio International, the Voice Of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From Netherlands- The Italian Senate has granted immunity to the Prime Minister and others leaders under indictment, to avoid scandal as Italy takes over the presidency of the EU. Protests against President Toledo continue in Peru, despite the state of emergency enacted last week. Peru’s former head of Intelligence was found guilty of corruption for the fourth time. The EU has agreed to station a peace-keeping force in the Democractic Republic of Congo. G-8 leaders were criticized for failure to provide debt relief to the poorest countries in the world, and for not moving toward serious reductions in global poverty agreed to last year at the summit. Concurrent with the G-8 summit, there was a “Summit of the Poor” being held in Mali- because the voices of the poor are not listened to by the G-8 leaders.

From China- A summary of the G-8 summit, pointing out unresolved trade issues, the presence of some leaders of developing nations, and the usual string of empty promises. French Pres Chirac asserted in his final statements that the war on Iraq was illegitimate and illegal.

From Russia- An observation on the US and British leaders scramble to find evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the justification used for the invasion.

From Cuba- The Brazilian President made a proposal at the G-8 summit to set up a world fund against hunger, financed by a tax on weapons sales- the proposal was not acted on by the G-8 leaders. Then a Viewpoint on Mexico’s President Fox, and his aspirations to bring more globalization and modernization to Mexico.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
