Topanga Canyon, CA - On Saturday, May 31, at 3:30 p.m., a concert at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, 1419 Topanga Canyon Blvd., will raise funds to help the victims of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The concert will feature Topanga residents and performers Colin Hay (of Men at Work), Cecilia Noel (of Cecilia Noel and the Wild Clams) and Suzanne Teng and Gilbert Levy (of Mystic Journey), as well as other special musical guests. Wendie Malick (of television's "Just Shoot Me") will emcee.

The event will also feature speakers, including former Senator Tom Hayden, Vietnam veteran and peace activist Ron Kovic ("Born on the Fourth of July") and community activist and radio commentator Blase Bonpane.

The concert is being organized by the Topanga Peace Alliance (TPA), which will donate 100% of the proceeds of the event to the International Rescue Committee to be used for medical supplies, emergency housing, food, water and relocation assistance in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tickets to the concert are $35.00, and can be purchased by calling (310) 455-2832 or from the TPA's website, www.topangapeacealliance.org. In addition, "Peace Sponsors" can donate $200 for individuals and $300 for couples, which will admit them to a special reception and light supper following the concert. Wine, beer and packaged foods will be available in the beautiful garden of the Theatricum Botanicum before and during the show. In addition, a variety of goods and services donated by local businesses in the Topanga community will be offered in a silent auction. The Topanga Peace Alliance hopes to raise approximately $20,000 from the event.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a non-profit, non-sectarian agency which provides volunteer assistance to people uprooted by war and violence, as well as those fleeing racial, religious and ethnic persecution. Founded by Albert Einstein and others in 1933 to support opponents of Hitler, the IRC is currently active in over thirty countries, and has an active presence in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Over 90% of their budget goes directly to their relief and refugee programs. More information can be found at their web site: www.theirc.org.

The Topanga Peace Alliance is a secular, nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting peace, nonviolent means of dispute resolution in all levels of society and all cultures, and practical nonviolent alternatives to war.
