TRAINING--May 10th and 11th
Street Medic Training
with the Black Cross Health Collective
www.blackcrosscollective.org)
University of California Santa Barbara South Hall 1623
Everyone welcome!
May 10th (9am-7pm) (including lunch break)
Basic Medic Training for everyone!
Come learn the basic skills needed for activists to protect themselves and others in protest situations. People who already have advanced first aid
training will want to take this course as we cover many things that are specific to protest health care.
People with no first aid training will learn valuable first aid skills they can use anywhere, not just at protests. Basics of dealing with tear gas, pepper spray, injuries from rubber bullets, batons, etc. Training will also cover herbal remedies and the ABCs (Scene survey, scene management, Airway, Breathing, Circulation, spinal cord precautions, triage). In a nutshell, first aid for activists.
May 11th (9am-7pm) (including lunch break)
Extended Training:
People who attend Saturday are encouraged to come back for a second day of more in depth training. We'll cover additional topics, preparing people for more complicated procedures and more severe circumstances.
Dress as if you were going to a protest. Sensible shoes and raingear required; we may get you wet. Sandals are a no-no. Bring all the other gear you'd bring if you were going to a protest. Bring a small, squirt-top water
bottle that's still sealed. Bring! your friends!
